If you love your bongs and pipes, then hygiene must be at the top of your mind when using this paraphernalia. After buying your bong and pipes from reputable headshops such as Grasscity, the next step is to set aside a budget to include glass cleaning.


However, you don’t have to spend too much on this exercise, especially when there’re home remedies. However, before you start shopping for a cleaner, you’ll want to know the 2 ingredients required to make the best cleaning solution.


On is coarse table salt and Isopropyl Alcohol. For the latter, a higher percentage results in the best solution.


Should I Use a Dishwasher?


Raw materials from top manufacturers in Germany and the U.S. make up the American Made glass which is also similar to what Pyrex glass uses. With this in mind, many people believe it’s fine to clean your bongs using a dishwasher.


However, it’s advisable to use a dishwasher to clean the basic and clear bongs rather than the scientific, artistic and colored bongs and pipes.

This is because such quality glass comes with several unknown factors which may cause your bong or pipe to crack. In addition, when dealing with imported glass, it’s best to use warm water instead of hot water just to be on the safe side.

Cleaning Your Bong

If you’ll use cleaning products, it’s best to soak the products in the glass to achieve the best results. For example, soak your hand pipe in a stainless steel or glass bowl which you can clean or dispose of after the entire process.

Some of the recommended cleaning products include Agent Orange and 420 Natural Cleaner.However, if you’re looking for a thorough cleaning solution, you may want to opt for Green Optimum Soaker or Grunge off. Remember to soak them overnight for the best results.

If you intend on quick-cleaning the bong and pipes, use your preferred cleaner inside a ziplock bag. Afterward, shake the bag containing the pipe or bong to ensure you get rid of the resin.

Another method involves using coarse grain salt combined with isopropyl alcohol. To create the solution, add a quarter bottle of iso alcohol and mix it with a tablespoon of salt. Now shake!

Considerations to Keep in Mind

When cleaning your items, make sure you rinse the cleaner until there’s no smell because the last thing you want is the residue to leak into the water where the smoke goes through. This will also apply to the salt and alcohol wash although alcohol is easier to rinse out compared to other cleaning solutions.

This is because alcohol is thinner and will get rid of the resin faster and salt acts as a scrubber which helps to remove stubborn resins.

What to Avoid

You must avoid cleaning your bongs and pipes using boiling water. One because, it might get sticky, or result in a foul smell or even worse, your pipe or bong may crack.
