…Families suffer. The churches are empty. Sunday Schools have low attendance. Peoples’ spiritual worship is practically non-existent. To me, this means we’re out of balance. Body, mind, spirit…All needs to be in better alignment so that we all have a shot at happiness. Old Ben was right: early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise. And remember to be grateful and to give back or pay it forward.

Do you ever wake up in the morning feeling unhappy, unfulfilled, unchallenged, and have nothing to look forward to? It doesn’t have to be that way. One idea that I always advise my clients is to “Detox yourself”.

It is interesting how our relationships with our bodies dictate our relationships with the partners and with the world. When we feel fit and sexy we are on top of the world and one with the world; but when our bodies feel unattractive to us we often create discord alienation and push partners, jobs, and opportunities away.

When we start cutting of all toxic things from our lives- foods, drinks, habits, people, places — everything changes- our body, our psyche and mind. Our life becomes ravenous and fulfilling. Any disciplined action (such as getting in shape, or healing yourself from a disease, quitting drugs and alcohol) is a spiritual journey that is also transformational in many ways- and affects not only your body but your life in general.

As a part of our series interviewing experts on how to live a “ravenous life” — a life filled with the passion, pleasure, playfulness and abundance that come naturally to those who dare to be authentic, I had the pleasure of interviewing natural beauty expert, Cynthia Rowland. Cynthia is the Founder/CEO, of Rejenuve, Inc., and the creator of two products, Facial Magic and the Luscious Lips Lip Pump. She has authored two books: The Magic of Facial Exercise, All About Natural Beauty; and Facial Magic, Rediscover the Youthful Face You Thought You Had Lost Forever.

Thank you so much for doing this with us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

It’s funny how the Universe works! A sagging eyelid prompted me to explore a non-surgical avenue to correct not only my wayward eye lid, I learned a wattle was developing under my chin right before my eyes. The sagging eyelid made me look tired, even lopsided and eye makeup did not work well for me. What were my options? Surgery was all I knew.

Using a surgical procedure, an avenue I explored, to correct any sagging facial muscle is expensive, invasive and there are no guarantees that you will like the results after the surgeon has cut, repositioned and sutured perfectly healthy tissue. There are lots of drawbacks like recuperation time, the time away from family, work and friends plus the risk of infection that must be considered. The expense of $3500 was a big obstacle. Here I was a single mother, the sole breadwinner and my growing boys needed sports equipment, jeans, books and shoes so I was very miserly about where my money was spent.

In my search for an affordable, non-invasive solution to my sagging eyelid, I was introduced to a woman from France who was living in Denver and teaching a highly specialized facial exercise program that promised the user would look 10 to 15 years younger in just 9 to 12 weeks. That claim excited me and after a few weeks of preparation, I flew to Denver. My friend introduced me to Marcelle Tsechappat — it was my good fortune was that she was willing to let me help her with marketing ideas and public relations while learning the ins and outs of how this exercise program really worked. In one year, her circumstances changed and so did mine. Her husband fell ill and I was left to pick up the pieces when she was no longer willing to teach at the clinic.

Fast forward one year: I relocated to the Los Angeles area and was led to introduce the facial exercise program to the world via a How To video. The new opportunities of marketing were like learning a new language and having a product that made such a remarkable difference paved the way that opened many doors.

The exercise system was first developed on VHS, then DVD and now we offer onDemand. That’s right, all 18 exercises are available online with follow up training included.

Since 1990, I have aspired to change the faces of an aging population in the United States, North America and the world through the innovation of the facial exercise program called Facial Magic.

The quest began in a specialized treatment center in Denver, Colorado and expanded into international television shopping channels, a successful infomercial and popular personal speaking engagements. Throughout this progression, my goal has been to deliver hope to mature women and men of the world through product innovation, instruction and motivation while affirming each individual’s self-esteem, confidence, self-reliance and inner beauty.

My company, Rejenuve, Inc., is committed to expanding the client base with safe, affordable products that are natural and not harmful in any way.

What does it mean for you to live “on purpose”? Can you explain? How can one achieve that?

Living on purpose means I treat everyone as I want to be treated. Integrity, truth and goodness attract integrity, truth and goodness. We live in our minds so we can create the best, on purpose life by what we think. Training our minds is a life-long process of growth.

Do you have an example or story in your own life of how your pain helped to guide you to finding your life’s purpose?

Pain found me when I knew that I needed to spend more time with my teenage children. For three years I had traveled around the world working in our oil business. Denver, Perth, Honolulu and London were frequent stops and that time away from my sons hurt all of us. I remember traveling from Perth to Bahrain hoping that our flight would not be delayed so that I could call my ten year old son to wish him a happy birthday before bedtime. The decision to leave the very lucrative oil business weighed heavily because I really had no idea how to proceed. It was during this time that I learned that the Facial Magic exercise program was my destiny.

The United States is currently rated at #18 in the World Happiness Report. Can you share a few reasons why you think the ranking is so low?

Families suffer.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

Using success to bring goodness to the world includes volunteering and giving of my time and talents, especially to children, through a reading and study program. The children are delighted to have extra positive attention! They want to impress! They want to succeed.

I believe that providing men and women an avenue of hope to rediscover the youthful face they thought they had lost forever is pure goodness. No harmful, invasive interventions that might injure or harm their beautiful faces and those who want to look younger don’t have to go into debt or spend their children’s inheritance to achieve more confidence in their appearance.

What are your 6 strategies to help you face your day with exuberance, “Joie De Vivre” and a “ravenous thirst for life”? Can you please give a story or example for each?

1. Faith — The knowing that the Universe will guide my day.

2. Rising early — Getting out of bed early allows me to get more accomplished.

3. Lingering over coffee — This is an ideal way to mentally plan the day.

4. Daily Word — A daily devotional that provides affirmations and right thinking.

5. Looking forward to the day — Exciting possibilities always await me

6. Who can I help today? — Every time I get to answer our customer service or order lines that is my thought…who can I help today?

Do you have any favorite books, podcasts, or resources that most inspired you to live with a thirst for life?

My thirst for life was developed long ago as I grew up on a farm 20 miles from nowhere. Books of all types and subjects hooked me. I still find Ayn Rand’s writings timely. I do enjoy podcasts that address our ever changing political climates.

Vogue was the first beauty magazine I regularly read. My mother’s friend, Carly, regularly provided them to me. What an impact those beautiful, well-dressed women made on me, a preteen, naïve child. Beverly Hills, NY, Paris, London, Milan — all began to call my name.

Can you please give us your favorite “Life Lesson Quote” that relates to having a Joie De Vivre? Can you share how that was relevant to you in your life?

“What if there was no failure — only life lessons”

“No fear, just do it”

“One step at a time”

In addition to the above affirmations, I’m also partial to a Bible verse: “For there is nothing that God cannot do.”

Training your mind to look for the best gives you peace and joy.

Are you working on any exciting new projects now? How do you think that will help people?

We are redesigning our monthly newsletter and we are exploring updated skincare items to provide men and women the best experience to stop aging skin.

You are a person of great influence. If you could inspire a movement that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be? You never know what your idea can trigger. 🙂

I would suggest a “heart change” movement to stop all negative thoughts and actions. Stop the lies, the violence and the hatred. Let there be peace on earth and let each of us could affirm that it begins with me.

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
