March, the month of women. It’s all about women. Everywhere you go, every site or social media you visited, it’s all about one thing – International Women’s Day. Many organizations are celebrating it in many ways, some are posting images and quotes on social media, some are conducting the women’s march and some are preparing for the women’s conferences. They all share the similar goal – to increase awareness about women empowerment and gender equality throughout the world.

What is a women’s conference, and what makes is so different with any other conferences?

One of the many ways is a women’s conference. Growing up, I have never heard about women’s conference, nor did I know anyone who was attending it or even organizing it. Women in my mother’s era knew one thing and that was to always put their family first before themselves. None of them knew how to take me time for themselves. Much has changed now, women, like you and me are having access to education, freedom of speech, workplace and many more. All thanks to those wonderful women who had been working and still working tirelessly for us.

And it’s not over yet!

There are still many women in many areas and nations throughout the world who don’t get have access to education, who are still suffering from child marriage and genital mutilations. It is now on us to pave a way for them like women before us did, too.

The importance of women’s conference

Women’s conference is not just a conference, it’s a medium where women from different backgrounds meet and empowering each other through their stories and their experience.

And when women support each other, incredible things happen.

It is so crucial to have women’s conference in countries and cities where the awareness about women empowerment is still low.

In the city of Medan, Indonesia where the populations of women are relatively large than the populations of men, not everyone knew what is women empowerment truly means. In Medan, people still regarded feminism as a radical movement dan catcalling is a normal thing. This is where International Women Conference 2018 will act as the bridge to close the gap and misunderstanding.

It will be a life-changing experience for women of Medan because for the first time they will find themselves in the majority in their aspirations, in a concentration, in a critical mass of people who support them, who have shared experiences, who can give advice, who ask advice. Not only for women, women’s conference will also create a new understanding of men, and why they should support women empowerment.

Women are no longer in the minority, they should no longer feel as if the world runs differently from them. Women should never feel crazy for voicing their opinion and at a conference like this, they are given mutual support and the ability to learn, to find out and to use their own experiences to teach others.

Tickets of International Women Conference 2018 in Medan, Indonesia are now on sale. To show your support, you can follow @intlwomenconference  for regular updates.

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
