I used to tell myself (and my husband!) all the time, that I just needed a few more clients and I’d then be able to take a really great salary home from my business.
I honestly believed that, if I just grew a bit more, if I just got a few more clients, that would mean that I’d be able to greatly increase the money I was taking out of my business.
But I’d get a few more clients…and nothing would change…I’d perpetually feel like I just needed a few more..and a few more…
But here’s the thing – I was not focusing on business wealth…on getting money out of my business for me and my family to enjoy…and what get’s focused on gets done, right?
You can’t sell your way out of poor business wealth….of poor financial health…
You can’t sell your way out of a lack of profit (which is exactly what I was trying to do)
Profit is something which needs to be ingrained in your business – full stop.
If it’s an afterthought.
If it’s not properly planned, then it doesn’t happen…no matter how many more sales you make.
It’s really important to make sure your business is profitable before you aggressively scale, because if it’s not truly profitable now, all you’ll end up doing is running out of cash even faster as you scale up.
So step 1 – establish a financially healthy business ie one that is profitable…one with sound business wealth tactics.
Step 2 – grow and increase sales.
It’s just not possible to be financially healthy otherwise, it’s not possible to build a financially sustainable business.
