The holiday season is a wonderful time to focus on your career. All of the tactics you use to boost your career have even more impact over the holidays.

Here are some fun ideas to boost your career while enjoying the most magical time of the year.

RALLY YOUR RELATIONSHIPS

Whatever your goals are, you need people to help you get there. And, there’s no better time than the holidays to shower your network with gratitude and attention.

Make special efforts to get in touch with business associates: those from the past, present and people you would love to work with in the future.

Call don’t text. Mail don’t email. This season calls for a more personal touch. Take the time to write cards thanking people for what they have meant in your life. Make or buy small tokens of your appreciation too. People will remember special gestures.

Gooey and cheesy are recommended.  And I am not talking about just the fabulous food. Lay on the love thick. There is a reason those Hallmark movies are so popular. Enjoy giving and receiving all the feels.

Holiday parties are great for networking. Say yes to invitations and consider organizing get-togethers your self – simple lunches, happy hours or full on parties. It’s a bright time, it’s the right time so rock the night away.

USE THE POWER OF POSITIVITY

First, you have to believe. Faith, fate, the universe, magic…but mostly believe in yourself.

Let all the festive holiday cheer inspire you to create a new affirmation for yourself. I am…..fill in the blanks. And then show up that way.  Make strong impressions and spread joy to the world.  Dress yourself up like the amazing gift you are and get out there and mingle merrily.

If you want to get more, you need to give more so be charitable. Give money if you can but your time is equally valuable. Volunteer at food banks or go celebrate with kids at the Boys and Girls Club. Volunteering feels so good and you will meet other amazing volunteers to add to your network.

Spread love and kindness around like sugar sprinkles. Smile at strangers and unleash good karma all month long. It’s all about energy so be sure your light is shining bright.

MASTER YOUR SELF MOTIVATION

Make a list and check it twice. What can you do to get closer to your ultimate goal? Everyone is in a good mood so even though businesses get either slower or crazier, it’s still a great month to make career advancements.

It’s the time of year to give generously, but we should also ask for what we want too. Tell everyone your goals. You have to say it out loud for people and the universe to conspire and support you.

Relax and rejuvenate, but don’t procrastinate. Have you been thinking about taking a class, getting a coach or going to an industry event? December is a great month to gift yourself. There is no more important investment you can make.

And lastly, be sure your Linkedin profile is polished and up to date.  All of your efforts will have people checking you out so be sure you look impressive.

Although it’s been said many times, many ways, make the most of these merry days.

Have fun spreading love and good cheer. You are sure to shine and set the stage for 2020 being your best year yet!

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
