When her alarm goes off at 4:00 a.m., the first thing Gracie does is check her e-mail. “I work in an industry where people are working 24 hours around the clock,” Gracie, a morning television graphics coordinator, explains — so it’s essential that she knows what’s happening before she arrives. Fast forward to 5:30 a.m. and Gracie is buzzing around the control room, staring into computer monitors to ensure that graphics are airing correctly, and working with artists on future designs. 

Excessive screen time has a host of adverse effects on health, according to research — but when it’s a built-in feature of your job, screen time can feel difficult to manage. 


Here, Gracie implements Microsteps — which are the smallest meaningful actions towards the fulfillment of what you want to achieve — to begin reducing her screen time at work and at home, and boosting her well-being.
