Protect Yourself From Corona Virus

The airwaves are filled with ventilators; flattening the curve; stay-at-home orders; social distancing; and wash your hands!  While all these factors are very important many citizens find themselves scrambling in search for what they can do to keep the threat at bay.  Since no specific cure has yet been found for the coronavirus preventing infection is the essential element in preserving good health.

To provide a clear and concise set of practical, effective measures that everyone can take to protect themselves and to increase the survivability rate within our community at large, It is a simple list of 5 actions that all people are encouraged to adopt and to share with everyone they know, to support their own wellbeing and those around them.  They are consolidated from published reports of Johns Hopkins University, Medical News Today, and the Journal of Virology.

Drink Plenty of Warm Water, Hot Soup, and Hot Tea

The coronavirus is not a living organism but a very fragile protein molecule covered by a layer of fat.  Heat melts this fatty outer layer and accelerates the decay of the protein molecule. The virus can only be absorbed in the body through the ocular, nasal or buccal mucosa – the mucus that is found around the eyes, nose, and mouth – so drinking lots of hot liquids will maintain an environment that is conducive to disintegrating the virus.

Use Steam Inhalation

As mentioned above, keeping the mucous membranes in the face and head warm will reduce the efficacy of the virus.

Gargle With Warm Salt Water Often

The virus can only attach itself to cells in the mucosa.  Warm salt water gargling detaches all foreign matter from the mucous membranes.  When the virus cannot attach, it cannot invade, it cannot harm.

Increase Intake of Vitamin C

Increased intake of alkaline foods (foods that have a relatively high pH level) will help to overwhelm the coronavirus which has a peak pH level of 8.5.  Vitamin C as a supplement will serve the purpose and fresh fruit such as orange, lemon, lime, pineapple, and mango are effective. Avocado is also highly alkaline.

Wear A Mask

Among the countries which have been most successful in combating the coronavirus the single most efficacious and easiest to employ tool is the mask.  If the virus does not enter your mouth, nose or eyes it cannot harm you.

We urge everyone to take these simple, effective measures to preserve your health and freely share these recommendations widely.  We are all in this together. Stay healthy.

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
