How To Make Cooking Less Stressful

Cooking can be a very enjoyable experience for some but others find it to be quite stressful. Here are some top tips to make that time in the kitchen a little happier for you.

Pick Easy Meals To Make

Don’t try to make something that will take a lot of effort. Pick easy meals that take little time to make and don’t need too many ingredients.

Measure Things Out Beforehand

When it comes to cooking, one of the most stressful things can be having enough space to do it and how much washing up it makes. An idea to keep stress to a minimum is to measure things out beforehand – have your water ready in a jug, your spices set up ready to be popped right into the meal. Utilise easy conversions – learn how many teaspoons are in a tablespoon or how many tablespoons are in a cup so you don’t have to worry about it later on.

Get The Family Involved

If you have young children, cooking can be stressful simply because they are getting under your feet. By getting them involved, you will minimise the chances of an accident from them running around you and they get to feel good about helping create something.

Use The Devices You Have Available

If you’ve got a slow cooker, an Instant Pot or an air fryer, put it to good use. All you need to do with these is add a few ingredients, press a few buttons and let the device do the work – no need to worry!

Make Your Own

Sometimes you will be making a dish and realise you have run out of something that is a main ingredient. This can be most upsetting – but why not consider making your own if it’s possible? Making your own breadcrumbs is simple enough as is making your own Jamaican curry powder or your own vanilla extract. By making your own, you won’t ever have to worry about running out again!
