Winter is a time when most of us find ourselves feeling sad and unhappy. While the holidays serve as a spark of cheer, they don’t last long enough to make up for the dreariness of the entire season.

With that said, there are ways to feel better during the winter. Start by finding ways to look better. If possible, do something very special. These two things can go a long way in pushing back against the winter blues.

Pop the Question

Winter is a great time to propose. It paves the way for a spring or summer wedding. Of course, a marriage proposal is nothing without a ring. The bigger the better is no longer a necessity. However, a high-quality gem or diamond for the center stone is a must. Solitaires and vintage styles are still in high demand. Emerald cuts and multi-stone settings are also on the rise. The good news is that there are so many engagement rings available and, with customizing options offered by most jewelers, finding the one for that someone special is easy.

Women’s Fashions

Winter 2019 fashion is very interesting, to say the least. It compiles a mix of decades including the 70s, 80s, and 90s and even the 1940s. For women, western-inspired clothing is taking center stage. From rancher designed hats with fun embellishments and stylish details to the classic western boot, dressing like a real cowgirl where it’s at. Trench coats, capes and, yes, even the puffer jacket is back and more popular than ever. Coats that keep you warm all season feature a longer hem that nearly reaches the ground.

Floral prints are on trend for dresses, shirts, and jackets. Teeny-weeny purses are all the rave. Keep your neon colors from the spring and summer handy, as the winter 2019 season proves anything but boring. And, if you’re not into the bright neon colors, pastel yellow (a big hit last season) is still as popular as ever. Deep purple is the new color of the season. Expect to see a lot of it at your local retail store.

Men’s Fashions

The 2019 winter season brings back many of the same trends as 2018, with a few new additions. For outerwear, the trench coat, peacoat, and statement coat are on trend for a day at the office or an evening out. This year they come in subtle or bold plaid patterns to add visual interest to your attire. Corduroy pants, crop jackets, and light wash denim are also in high demand. The turtle neck or the cardigan  —  in V-neck or crew neck styles  —  are ideal for layering and maintaining a clean appearance.

New to the market are cropped trousers and white pants. Scarves are an essential part of a man’s winter wardrobe, enhancing your look while keeping your neck and chest warm. In 2019 you can find an abundance of scarves with checkered, ribbed, solid, grid, and two-tone patterns. And, of course, cashmere and wool dominate the fabric choices.

Home Interior Trends

Your home is a place you go to seek solace from the outside world. Many of the winter interior trends for 2019 express that wish. Wallpaper, for instance, has natural prints in bold, beautiful colors that bring the calm yet scenic outdoors into your home. If you want to shy away from the labor of love involved with applying (and removing) wallpaper, there is a wide range of peel-and-stick scenes available.

Square furniture is out and rounded corners, which create a warm and inviting look, are in. Updating a room is easy with a mix of light and dark contrasting colors, such as peacock blue and black with white and a single statement piece. Layers as also still in, so find patterned pillows or stylish throws that add character to the room and while also keeping your home warm and cozy during those cold winter nights.

Winter 2019 has much to offer for you and your partner. From taking the big step towards marriage to making sure you’re well-dressed, those who find themselves feeling blue this winter can extend the cheer beyond the holidays.
