How to Live Your Life as if Your Future Self is Watching You

For all we know, you only get one shot at life. There’s even a saying that one life is enough if you live it right.

However – chances are, we don’t know if we’re living in accordance with what we want. We just live.

A good way to always be on track daily is to live as if your future self is watching you. This is a powerful statement that I came up with in order to ground me back to reality.

Now, just having a powerful saying won’t do you any good if you don’t know how to use it. So I recommend living your life by these 6 steps.

Set Your Goals Based on Your Passion

One of the most important things in life is living with a purpose. Finding that purpose will be hard, in fact – most people never find it. If you want to live your life to its potential you need to set your goals based on what you love most in life.

This will ease the process and ease the journey. If you just set goals for the sake of setting them, you’ll realize quickly that it will be a lot harder than you had hoped.

Set Deadlines

Work without urgency is busy work. You want to make sure that the work you are doing has a deadline so you can focus on being productive instead of busy. Once you set urgent time frames for yourself not only will you increase the urgency of accomplishing it, but you’ll increase the rate at the end goal that you want to get too.

Work Hard

Discipline is one of the most purests kinds of self love. If you do not discipline yourself – the world will do it for you. Trust me, it’s easier if you discipline yourself. It’s also self love, if you love yourself enough, you’ll discipline yourself to work out because you don’t want to be overweight.

If you love yourself, you’ll work hard to provide a better life that you deserve. If your future self was watching you, he’d appreciate if you worked hard so that later in life you’re not struggling like most do.

Enjoy Your Journey

We’re all guilty of this. We work, set deadlines and slave away but we forget to enjoy the journey of life. We forget to live to our fullest potential. One of the best ways to not forget about this is to stop and think you only live once.

Be present in your work, in your relationships, in your friendships. It’s hard to be angry when you’re grateful.

Be Kind

As you go through life, you’ll find that everyone believes they are doing the right thing. They will use anger in order to get their way and you’ll find that anger is a false sense of power and control. You give up control when you’re angry.

So be kind, kill with kindness, be grateful in life because as you go through it – you will be hurt and betrayed. But if you’re kind – the universe will reward you.

Motivation is not a self-standing behavior. Some people believe if you have the right motivation you can achieve anything, it is simply the opposite. It comes from something else. If you have the right goals you can reach the best motivation you need.

If you get anything out of this, just know that the true ROI you need is happiness. Invest in a happy life as you won’t get out of this alive. Find your passion and build on it.

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
