How the Divine Feminine is Changing the World

Is ancient knowledge a potential key to developing our uniqueness

Are you craving for a more natural, spiritual and balanced life, or maybe you have been exploring a more conscious way of living already and you are now looking for a stronger connection to your emotional self?

The term Divine Feminine has become a popular hashtag in the New Age space. Having spent some time reading about it, exploring it at courses and events, and hearing my personal coaching clients speak about it; I have been inspired to explore it further. I’d like to bring it to a context that makes it an essential tool for anyone who would like more personal freedom and joy in their lives.

If there’s one word that would describe the dawn of the 21st-century, it is uncertainty. In a world where you may not be able to trust Facebook Inc., which holds the most significant following and database of information on people, we are faced with interesting questions on the meaning of freedom.

What is it that an algorithm will never be able to map, and how am I different to someone else? The concept of uniqueness is deeply linked to uncertainty. The Divine Feminine may offer a varied perspective to both individuals and organizations on dealing with uncertainty.

The Divine Feminine

The Divine Feminine is the re-introduction and practice of ancient knowledge that used to be mainstream. The sexuality of women was accepted during this era rather than suppressed and a strong primal awareness of nature existed.

This knowledge includes fields such as Tantra, Shamanism, Taoism, and many other bodies of ancient wisdom. Feminine traits such as empathy, vulnerability, humility, patience, collaboration, inclusiveness, creativity, nurturing, sharing and enhancing other’s self-worth were intrinsically part of the order of society. These traits exist in both men and women, and in all organizations as well. One could say it defines how we run various groups today.

Change is Constant

Where there is uncertainty, change is constant. The speed and intelligence of adapting to change is key. A few considerations offered by the Divine Feminine to navigate change include

1. Wildness

“In wildness is the preservation of the world,” – Henry David Thoreau

The patriarchal tendency to organize and civilize has suppressed the role of our “wild.” Wild does not mean crazy and destructive. Wild refers to our natural selves, at one with nature. We overlook the insight this wildness brings and confine our true, naturally creative and emphatic selves.

With the advent of the Divine Feminine, Wild Women Sisterhoods groups are forming all over the world, allowing women the space they need to openly express their emotions verbally–via song, dance, festivals, women’s circles and other creative pursuits out in the heart of nature. Many are discovering new talents and ideas that are allowing them to gain additional income and serve communities at the same time.

2. Unplugging the Status Quo

One of the most significant illusions that reduce our adaptability to change is the concept of the “status quo.” Morpheus, in the film The Matrix explains this as, “You have to understand, most people are not ready to be unplugged, and many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.”

3. Cosmic Womb

Another one of the core principles of the Divine Feminine, is the concept of the Cosmic Womb, something that we are all linked to as one.

We create and birth ourselves through this womb to be our unique selves in this world. As we become complete, it is a sharp reminder that awareness and joy are things that come from within, as shown by practices such as mindfulness. There is almost no status quo within a world with stronger feminine traits. Each of us is unique.

4. The Communion of the Masculine and the Feminine

The specific masculine traits are not ones of domination and control; these are the egotistic and toxic traits of the masculine. Positive male characteristics are spontaneity, creativity, strength, passionate conviction, energetic responses, and rational logic. These qualities form the other side of the feminine traits mentioned above. Both of these traits working together will assist in creating a well-balanced individual and organization to take it through this new Age of Uncertainty.

Divine Feminine Today

Therefore, the Divine Feminine is a means of allowing ancient wisdom into day-to-day life to gain awareness. It also provides us with the tools and techniques that give us the courage to allow ourselves to become vulnerable.

Vulnerability allows new understanding, new creativity, and eventually new solutions to navigate change and uncertainty. As Brene Brown, one of my favorite authors says, “Vulnerability is the birthplace of everything we are hungry for.”

And so Hashtag Divine Feminine is definitely here to stay. It may be that a divine feminine themed book, video, event or festival is exactly what you are looking for. Give it a try, it may do a little more than surprise you.
