Shawn Germain, otherwise known as Shawn G, was born and raised in the heart of Brooklyn to Brooklyn-native parents. At a young age, he fell in love with the art of DJing after witnessing a man performing at his local Macy’s. Immediately, he was drawn to the turntables and their ability to transform music. At just 11 years old, Germain was asking his parents to put him in DJing lessons, and, just a year later, you could find him playing at King Plaza Mall, at the same Macy’s where the talent first peaked his interest.

By age 13, the pre-teen was booking DJ gigs consistently. He was playing 10-hour shifts at Macy’s every Saturday, and occasionally, he’d get invited to perform at exclusive events or even at his local radio stations. He kept up with his musical hobby throughout his school years, constantly being asked to host his friends’ birthday parties. Despite his parents having no ties to the music industry and Germain starting from ground zero, he was quickly becoming successful at his unique hobby. But shortly after he turned 15, his life changed. One of Germain’s best friends, whom he considered “practically a brother” since he was an only child, passed away unexpectedly. The incident left Germain broken and full of grief for quite some time, causing him to cope by growing up “way too fast” after the tragedy. Eventually, he learned what it meant to be independent and realized life was much too short to not pursue one’s greatest desires. Fortunately, it helped him focus on his part-time DJing career while he was still attending school. Once he got to college, whilst originally pursuing a law degree, he realized he didn’t have time to travel for job events and also attend all his classes. So, he chose to stick to what he did (and loved) best. He chose music.

At this point in time, Shawn G was traveling across the country for a few of the nation’s biggest events, including some celebrity parties and movie premieres. In fact, he was a DJ on the lineup for Jake Gyllenhaal’s “Nightcrawler” premiere party in 2014. And the more he attended these A-list events, the more he networked with dozens of high-profile individuals within the music and entertainment industry. He also gathered an understanding of what it took to make these huge events possible; everything from live concerts, to nightlife parties, and the like.

Using the knowledge he’d obtained, in 2018, Shawn invested a quarter of a million dollars into creating his own live-event production company, Today’s Tomorrow Inc. He created a lineup of live concerts single-handedly, after he’d gone through an extensive process of having researched venues, hired talent, managed finances, and generated marketing promotions for the events. Those concerts built the foundation of the company, which has now organized dozens of events alongside well-known icons in the industry.

After his first successful business venture, Germain grew hungry for more. Just two years after debuting Today’s Tomorrow, Germain founded his marketing and talent management firm, Tomorrow’s Group, Inc. This multi-faceted company not only manages a wide variety of talent, but also offers marketing services such as social media profile development, public relations management, and web design for other businesses. Although the company has faced the current global pandemic head-on since last year, it has managed to grow tremendously despite the difficult circumstances for many small businesses. As of 2021, the company has grossed over $200,000 in the last three months and now manages marketing for over 40 social media accounts.

And as if that weren’t enough for one 24-year-old, Germain also spends most of his days and nights managing day-to-day operations and PR campaigns for Roc Nation hip-hop artist, Casanova. Usually, his schedule consists of running his own business ventures during the day and then managing the rapper’s schedule at night. When we asked him how he manages all the busy aspects of his life, he shakes his head while chuckling and responds by saying it’s “if you slow down, you die… you’ve just gotta keep going”.

Just goes to show that a regular Brooklyn kid can do anything he sets his mind to; including becoming a multi-leveled and self-made CEO.
