How Can Innovative Technology Help Us Sleep Better

Getting a full night’s sleep is highly important. Being able to function properly during the day is only achievable if you are fully rested during the night. Unfortunately, not a lot of people are lucky enough to sleep like a baby each and every night. A lot of people suffer from insomnia, sleep apnea or other sleep disorders that prevent them from getting enough sleep during the night.

Most of these disorders are genetically inherited but a lot of them are due to the modern way of life that we are living. The highly stressful environment that surrounds us every day at work or when we leave the house is enough to make us feel anxious and disturb our sleep. Sometimes it is our conscience that bothers us and prevents us from getting some rest. Or it can be because of technology that surrounds us.

There are a lot of technological innovations that are supposed to make our lives easier that actually do damage to us in a different way. We are talking about certain gadgets that are damaging to the way we sleep. We are constantly surrounded by gadgets and machines that give off signals, small amounts of radiations and even faint noises that can prevent us from sleeping peacefully. Some people are able to cope with it while some people aren’t.

But all is not so dark. The same way that technology can be damaging to our sleep can also be helpful. Thanks to smart people and those who support innovative ideas, there are a number of products that can help us sleep better. Technology has evolved in such a way that it has become harmful to us, but it is also developing even further so we can cure all the damages that it is doing by utilizing it in a proper way.

Better Sleep With Data

While we sleep we are completely unaware of what is happening around us. We cannot determine what are the causes of our sleep problems and we do not know anything about our bodies while we sleep. But what if there was a way for you to find out certain things to help you record the data and sleep better?

Nokia Sleep is a mattress that does exactly that. First of all, it is a comfortable place to sleep and secondly it records everything about your sleep patterns. What you end up after a session of sleep is a “sleep score” that tells you exactly what the quality of your sleep was.

The advantage of this device is that it gives you all the data necessary and it is also something that you don’t have to wear. It is not uncomfortable at all and you can sleep in it wearing whatever you like. It even comes with a Nokia Health Mate app that allows you to set the temperature of the room set the light and even open and close the windows based on your sleeping preference.

Technology That We Wear

Technology has also found a way to help us sleep better with a set of devices that we can wear during our sleep. Smart Pajamas and Wearable Sleep Trackers are becoming more and more popular, the only problem is that it sometimes takes a bit to get used to wearing it while you sleep.

Smart pajamas are actually bioceramic pajamas that help you get comfortable while you sleep. They are meant to relax the muscles and the entire body so you feel fully rested from the grit and grind of the previous day. You wake up as you slept on a cloud. Athletes say that these pajamas re particularly helpful as they give them the necessary rest after long practices during the day.

But if you don’t like wearing pajamas, you can use a headband or a ring. Sleep Shepherd Blue is a headband that is used to record the sleeping patterns that you can analyze afterward. It also emits a low frequency that is supposed to stimulate and rest the brain during its downtime. But if you don’t like wearing something on your head while you sleep, you can do with a ring. The motiv ring is a piece of technology that serves a similar function as your calorie meter while you run. But instead of recording everything while you run, it does so while you sleep.

All in all, gathering information about your sleeping patterns is necessary as you can learn which steps to take and learn more about your problem.

Technology of the Past

There are many devices that are meant to help us sleep already. But not all of them are as comfortable as you may think. Devices like masks or mouth guards are very inconvenient to some people. These devices are usually used to help sleep apnea patients and they are meant to help a person get enough air while they sleep.

Unfortunately, not all of those devices are helpful. The biggest problem is getting used to it. Many of them are bulky and unappealing so they are not something that you would sleep in. They seem a lot more unnatural so it sometimes fends off a lot of the patients.

Luckily, the technology of today seeks to eliminate all those old devices and wants to develop something that can be comfortable, useful, healthy and appealing to use.

There are Always Procedures

Sometimes you don’t even have to use a certain device to help you sleep when you can get things fixed with a certain procedure. The technology of today is advanced enough so doctors can do much more than they were able to do in the past. This leads to better healthcare and recovery after the procedure and you can get back to feeling like your young self again.

Hypoglossal nerve stimulation, sleep endoscopy, and lateral nasal valve implants are just some of the procedures that you can do in order to get cure yourself of various conditions that plague your sleep. They may cost a lot more than getting a machine that you wear to fix the problem, but it is a onetime expense that will often cure your problem and help your well-being.
