What is Holistic Wealth?
In my new book Holistic Wealth: 32 Life Lessons To Help You Find Purpose, Prosperity and Happiness, I’ve defined holistic Wealth as comprising several essential elements: financial savvy and independence, a life purpose and mission, spiritual connection, and a generous demeanor—all of which leads  to a greater sense of wholeness and resilience in times of difficulty, as well as to greater happiness and joy on a daily basis.

As you embrace these various measures of wealth, you will see that they are interdependent, each building on the other. Financial wealth without emotional and physical health has limited value. Emotional wellbeing is difficult to achieve without financial stability. A healthy lifestyle is the foundation for emotional resilience. By focusing on all of these areas, you will build a sense of wellbeing that is stronger than the sum of its parts.

Cultivating holistic wealth helps us to be mentally tough and to have the grit to weather the inevitable storms and setbacks that life brings like tragedy and grief, job loss, trauma, divorce or a critical illness. After my husband died at a very young age, I realized that I needed to live more intentionally by embracing a holistic wealth mindset™.

What is the Holistic Wealth Method?
I developed the Holistic Wealth Method™ to help us assess our daily actions and decisions. It is estimated that the average adult makes 35,000 decisions each and everyday. Many of these decisions we make mindlessly, however, each decision carries consequences both negative and positive. As a result we need to learn about balancing our holistic wealth bank account. What does this mean? I am proposing a life-transforming way to think about balance in your life—I call it the Holistic Wealth Method™.

Imagine that every single decision you make is either a deposit or a withdrawal from your holistic wealth bank account. Some decisions enrich your life, while others deplete your account. Make too many withdrawals, and you’ll end up bankrupt.

Some examples of withdrawals from your holistic wealth bank account:

  • A toxic, anxiety-inducing relationship
  • Spending too much time on social media
  • Relying on processed or fast food to fuel your body

And some easy ways to make holistic wealth deposits:

  • Getting out of debt
  • Having a personal mission
  • Getting your daily dose of exercise
  • Taking in the natural world around you
  • Spending time with loved ones, and making each moment count

As we start a new year, lets embrace the holistic wealth method in order to have an intentionally designed life, which leads to more prosperity, joy and happiness.
