Highly Sought After Career Coach Makes Her Mark On The Podcast World

Meet Ashley Stahl and the You Turn Podcast

“We cannot silo aspects of ourselves. Inevitably, they fold into each other, molding each other, and must each be given proper attention and nourishment in order for them all to grow.”

I recently had the pleasure of connecting with total boss and inspiration, Ashley Stahl. Ashley is a career coach, forthcoming author, and speaker… She’s also now the host of a podcast called ‘You Turn,’ which stood out to me because it’s not afraid to be all the things. While many podcasts I typically listen to are siloed into specific industries or topics, each You Turn episode shares something new: may it be advice on how to know if you’re ready for a relationship or advice on how to get in touch with your inner genius. The end result is a multilayered masterpiece, where Ashley gets real, honest, and approaches life from a holistic point of view – something new for me, as I admittedly had only sought out podcasts to help me in work.

This eclectic dance of subject matter reflects one of Ashley’s life philosophies, rooted in her identity as a multi-passionate entrepreneur: see life as an experiment – one in which you choose to live fearlessly, fully explore your ideas, and make decisions on whether to keep pursuing them or not– based on actual trial and error. How many of us have ideas that we dismiss because they don’t ‘align’ with what we’re doing? Ashley’s vote is to explore, because as she says, clarity comes from engagement, not thought. If we engage in the creative flow of life and turn inward for answers, what we create can be far more aligned and impactful. After all, humans are multifaceted. We approach how we work with how we live, and we approach how we live with how we love. We cannot silo aspects of ourselves. Inevitably, they fold into each other, molding each other, and must each be given proper attention and nourishment in order for them all to grow.

“How many of us have ideas that we dismiss because they don’t ‘align’ with what we’re doing?”

The You Turn Podcast started only eight months ago, and Ashley created it as a “space to heal herself.” She’s since hit the top 100 charts for career podcasts in Canada, as well as in the United States.

“I wanted to work on my career, my love life, and share what’s going on with myself with my guests,” she shared.

Self-coined “Ashley’s free coaching hour,” she calls on experts from a number of industries and backgrounds to share their life’s work, may they be CEO’s or professors (her personal favorite), all there to give you what feels like a free class for the hour on how to be your best self. “I get hundreds of inquiries to be on the show,” Ashley admitted. “So many people have a lot to say.” What helps her choose topics is refocusing on the core mission of the podcast. “I want everyone to be aware of action steps to change their life after every single episode,” Ashley shares.

She also feels it’s a matter of social responsibility. Having worked in counter-terrorism for the Pentagon in Washington, DC prior to her entrepreneurial journey, she feels called to share the truths and stories of hard topics such as human trafficking or terrorism risks on an episode in her “Smarts” category roughly once a month.

What stays with me most from my conversation with Ashley is her stance towards life. Taking on the art of surrender, she shared with me that she sees life as the ultimate coach. When faced with questions, she lets live show her the answers: “Let’s see if life this week shows me the answer,” she meditates. It’s trust…an approach to life, love, and business that can only serve us.
