Hearing a New Voice

Listening carefully

Bella Lisa and her best friend

At the Water

Have you ever heard a “voice” really clearly? Like someone in your head is talking, but it’s not your thoughts? The first time I heard a voice, it was as if someone was speaking through me, to me. The moment was simple and powerful. I was very still, filled with immense relief.

At the far edge of Long Island, I am being led to the water by a dog named Bella Lisa. It was late at night, very dark and all I heard was the sound of the water. The voice said: “You’re going to be fine. It will take some time.”

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
