Founder, Deisy Suarez-Giles, shares her story of how continuous learning helped her realize her dreams in the beauty and wellness industry.
Growing up as a child, Deisy was always interested in beauty and wellness. From making her own scrubs and face masks in her own home, she took it to the next level by eventually entering the world of makeup artists. After finishing her course in Marketing Communications from UTESA in 2002, Deisy attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York while working as a freelance makeup artist. This was how her journey towards the beauty and wellness industry started.
In 2004, she opened her first line of business in New York. In establishing her first company, she sought the help of experts to help her in coming up with high-end products for her clients. Deisy also took the time and effort to study and become a professional makeup artist. After enrolling herself in the Learning Institute of Beauty Science, the Dominican-born entrepreneur landed a certification in Special Effects Makeup, Editorial Makeup, Glamour, and Body Art Painting.
She started working as a makeup artist in fashion shows and studio sets. With her knowledge and experience in the beauty industry, her business became a success.
Upon her relocation to Los Angeles, California, she continued her commitment to the beauty and wellness industry. However, she found herself focused more on the wellness aspect of her passion.
Eventually, she ventured into spa services in 2010. In the same year, she attended the National Holistic Institute in Massage Therapy and became a licensed massage therapist. With this, there was a rapid increase in the number of clientele coming in for her spa services and other wellness treatments. Finally, Deisy established one of the most highly-regarded private day spas in California, DESUAR Spa.
Occupying 4,4000 sq. Ft. space in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, DESUAR Spa features clean and with a moroccon aesthetics look that add to its rejuvenating ambiance. In 2011, Deisy continued to pursue her studies in the industry and became a licensed esthetician. In 2016, she graduated from the University of California Irvine Continuing Education Division majoring in Spa and Hospitality Management. She then proceeded to obtain more certifications for Advanced Skin Analysis, Hydrafacial MD, and Phytomer, among others.
For Deisy, it is clear that education and continuous learning in the field of beauty and wellness helped her greatly in attaining the entrepreneurial success she finds herself in today. This success has given her opportunities to be featured in many popular magazines and MTV at the same time. It has also led her to work with several celebrities and other important personalities in the entertainment industry.
