One of my very best friends posted something last week that totally blew my mind.

She said…

Fear is just information your body is telling you. It might not be accurate to the situation in front of you. You get to decide if you want to listen to it.

It’s true. Fear is gonna show up for you all the time. Sometimes it serves you and keeps you safe – i.e. in a dark parking lot at night.

Other times, your mind and body don’t understand that it’s not a life and death situation, but instead just something kinda scary that you’ve never done before – like climbing that mountain, launching that business or speaking up in that meeting. You name it.

I PROMISE you. All the good stuff is on the other side of that fear.

Once you understand that it’s OPTIONAL to listen to it, your whole world will open up and change.

I spent most of my life being paralyzed by fear and letting it dictate my actions which would usually show up as inaction.

Have you experienced the same?

It wasn’t until recently that I started doing things scared anyway just to see what would happen and here’s what I found:

➡️ nothing had turned out as bad as I imagined in my head. The worst case scenario is super unlikely to happen.

➡️ some of the best things come from a place of “doing it scared”. For me it’s been things like creating a local women’s confidence meetup group, launching a podcast called Regret-Proof, leaving my corporate job, and even becoming a coach to begin with.

➡️ the more you do it anyway and push through your own fears, the more and more confident you become, and the more comfortable you will be when it comes to facing your fears.

➡️ regrets come from inaction. If you’re letting your fears shut you down you may feel safe in the moment but you’re going to regret it later in life and wonder what could have happened.

My point?! I’m telling you, as a survivor of facing my own fears, that it is SO possible and it’s nowhere near as scary as what your mind makes it up to be.

Go out there and be who you wanna be, do what you love and create the life you want to be living. It’s all on the other side of that fear.

You can do this. Life is too short to stay small. Go do that thing and create that life that you long for. ?
