The team sat down with realtor Amber Thornburg and her Husband Wil and talked about why the Beaufort County is known as the “Best Vacation Destination.”

Here’s how it went.

It’s great to have you here. Can you please tell us more about yourself and what you do?

“Wil and I are local Real Estate Agents who service the Hilton Head Island and Bluffton/Okatie area.  We work for Alliance Group Realty.  We help buyers find homes of their dreams, and Sellers achieve their home selling needs.  We relocated from Indiana 3 years ago.  I retired from the medical field, and Wil is ex-military and a retired Police Officer.”

What is your service area? What are the benefits of working in this area? What are the amazing features of these areas that people should know before moving here?

“Wil and I service Beaufort County, which is Hilton Head Island, Bluffton, and Okatie.  The amazing features of our area are numerous. We are noted for our outstanding golf courses and pristine white sandy beaches. The Spanish Moss trees and palm trees will take your breath away. The island is filled with greenery and flowers of all colors. On any day, one might see dolphins, an array of fish, sea turtles, manatee, stingrays, sharks, jellyfish, starfish, and sand dollars floating along our ocean depths. The area’s outdoor amenities are endless, especially if you are a water lover, a sports fanatic, or a golfer. Each community offers a plethora of club activities, events, groups specific to almost anything you love—just a truly amazing atmosphere.

The benefit of working in this area is that we bring in people from around the world. You truly become well-diverse as you help people from all over the country find their dream home.  Every day I can walk out my door and meet someone from NY, NJ, CO, MA, CA, OH, PA, or even Germany, Russia, Australia, France, etc.; it is truly amazing.”

Do you work with a specific type of client or within a specific niche? (Commercial, Investment, First-time Homebuyer, etc.)

“Wil and I work with both Buyers and Sellers. We do not hold a rental license, so we do not ‘rent’ units and sell commercial buildings or real estate. We help investors from around the world find that perfect investment opportunity that is easily done down here. We are a vacation destination, and this island is filled with tourists year-round. We also help people find ‘future homes’ here. Our rental market is HOT, and many of our clients buy several years before they plan to retire and use their home as a short-term investment and have a renter pay their mortgage until they are ready to #COMELIVEWITHUS.”

How is the market performing right now? Is it the right time to acquire your services?

“Our market is HOT! Bluffton, Sun City, and Hilton Head Island seem to be the place to be right now. We have many buyers coming down, and many Sellers understand this is a great time to sell. It’s an exciting time to be in Real Estate.”

Tell us a little about your personal life? Ex: who do you live with? What are your hobbies? Do you have any pets? Etc.

“Wil and I live on the South Side of Hilton Head Island in Sea Pines. We have an 11-year-old dog named Kiki, and she is a 98lb loving German Shepard whom we have been absolutely blessed to have in our lives. Wil loves to golf, and when I am not “Real Estating,” I am involved with a non for profit charity here on the island. Wil and I enjoy the multiple daily happy hours, live music or entertainment, and meeting up with all the locals that you WILL come to know as Hilton Head Island is only a 12×6 mile island. We enjoy our white sandy beaches and all the marine life. Wil enjoys the 26 golf Courses HHI has to offer and let’s not forget to mention our weather is just amazing !!!”

What are some pieces of advice that you would give to potential clients looking to buy, sell or invest in your service area?

“Buyers: Come Prepared; talk to local lenders and get prequalified, so you understand your comfort level when purchasing. Talk to local attorneys and understand facts about closing costs. Then, Wil and I can guide you to the appropriate people. Also, think about what you want out of a community; our communities are filled with amenities to suit the needs of almost anyone who moves here.

Investors: Our Island is a top 10 tourist destination. We are noted for our beaches. It is busy ALL year-round. You can’t go wrong investing in Hilton Head. Rentals are desperately needed every month of the year. We are a great place to invest in.

Sellers: Now is the time to sell; be prepared to have your home sold quickly as we have people coming in from all over the country. Have a game plan when you list your home.”

Amber added, “If ever a question about Hilton Head, Google Vacation Hilton Head. The beauty and history of our area are stunning. We are 45 minutes from Savannah, GA, and 2 hours from Charleston, Sc. Our Island has its very own Distillery, Winery, and Brewery. Water Sports and daily cruises are some of the many attractive features of our area. Hilton Head and our Beaches win awards year after year. If the idea of a ‘slow life,’ kind neighbors, sand, sun, ocean breeze, water, happy hours, acoustic music, activities galore, history, then you might want to consider to #COMELIVEWITHUS.”
