The Caribbean is filled with incredible travel destinations. The Dominican Republic has become known as one of the best golf destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America area by IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operators), imposing itself on countries such as Brazil, Mexico, Costa Rica or Jamaica.

This is nothing more than a sample of the enormous importance and relevance that golf is representing in that Caribbean country, where the courses are multiplying, all of high level, and this tourist segment assumes more importance every day.

Golf tourism contributed some 200 million dollars to the Caribbean country in 2018 and it is expected that it will reach 300 between 2020 and 2021, a period in which tourist visits will also increase. As an object to practice this sport. Last year, more than one hundred thousand golf tourists arrived in the country and this number is expected to exceed one hundred and twenty-five thousand this year.

Dominican Republic golf courses

The Dominican Republic has around thirty golf courses designed by legends of this sport and located in the best tourist areas, with 57 of its holes bordering or overlooking the sea. Golf and beaches, beaches and golf, are a perfect pairing that in that warm American country, seasoned with other important attractions, acquires a level that borders on the sublime.

Dominican Republic have excellent golf courses, such as Diente de Perro, in La Romana, Punta Espada, in Cana, where the PGA Tour’s Championship Tour has been played, La Cana, which received the magazine award. Golf Digest as the most spectacular and best-maintained course in the Caribbean. Hard Rock Golf Club, Corales Golf Course, Barceló Lakes Golf Course Anyway, our courses also have the signature of the most prestigious designers and architects of golf: Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Tom Fazio, Pete Dye, PB Dye or Nick Faldo etc.

Golf is a growing hobby around the world, and for us the practice of this sport is closely linked to tourism. It is a segment to which we attach vital importance because the golfer is an enthusiastic traveler, with high purchasing power, who moves wherever there is a new course, wherever there is a new incentive, where a friend tells him it exists. A challenging field. And we can offer all this: novelties, magnificent courts, perfect maintenance and unique locations.

Taking a break from work and relaxing on an Island

There are several golf courses in paradisiacal locations in the Dominican Republic: Playa Grande, La Romana, Samaná, Puerto Plata, Cap Cana. We have always tried to ensure that in our country golf is integrated into nature and the tourism industry that welcomes it, in large hotel or real estate resorts.

We take great care to preserve the environment and the natural environment. We are in a privileged area of the world, about 350 kilometers south of the Tropic of Can-cer, where the average annual temperature is 26 or 27 degrees, where it rains but immediately clears, the sun rises and nature seems to revive every day.

That is why our fields are always very green and in unique places. You can also find courts on the edge of the sea as a little inland or in large gorges such as Altos del Chavón, located on the huge cliffs that form that river, where Francis Ford Coppola filmed a large part of his film Apocalypse Now.

The good thing, also, about golf in the Dominican Republic is that you can play 3.65 days a year. That’s how it is. You can play all year round, and there the days start very early. Watching the sunrise on a golf course in the Dominican Republic is an incredible spectacle, especially if you are by the sea. The truth is that our fields invite you to play. They are paradisiacal places that provoke you, that surround you. A luxury for all the senses in a special atmosphere.
