Revolutions of Changing the Ways to Listen Music

“Music has power to soothe the savage beast”

“From the time immemorial, music has been the part of people’s life.  Though much has changed in terms of ways of making and listening music over the period of time but craze for music hasn’t dulled for a second. From the era of gramophones to smart phones, music has covered a long journey and this journey will continue to be revolutionized by different methods of making and listening to music” – Carol Wood, an author & content strategist at assignment services.

Year 2019 is already showing the signs of future music predictions which will be more prominent in coming months. Let’s explore the changes music industry is undergoing in 2019 and how these changes will transform the way of making and listening music.

Smart phones and digital music streaming services will increase their dominance over music

2019 has started with the rise in digital music streaming services; past couple of years have witnessed tremendous increase in users of these services which has replaced iPods altogether. Those small plastic boxes launched by Steve Jobs in 2001, once the most prized possessions of music lovers that had ability to fit the whole music library in your pocket, are almost extinct. With the advent of digital music streaming services like Spotify, Apple music etc.  and smart phones, the experience of listening to music has gone a notch up. Smart phones with huge memory capacity for music has replaced MP3 players and bringing latest music to the listeners in faster and easier way. Digital music streaming services bring you the world of music at the click of one button which surely made iPods an obsolete technology. You just need to download the apps like Spotify, Saavn etc. sign in with your email id or connect with your Facebook and you are all set to listen to your favorite music for free. Yes! You heard it right, you can listen music for free on music apps as long as you are connected to internet at the same time these apps offer monthly subscription for some amount which allows you to download your favorite songs and listen them offline. These music apps have been instrumental in curbing music piracy as they restrict illegal download and its good news for artists as their music is safeguarded by these apps as well as by smart phones.

Alexa please play my song

Smart speakers like Alexa which follow your voice command have made the listening to music way easy. Just address Alexa and tell her which song you wish to listen then just sit back enjoy. 2019 is going to witness rise in demand of smart speakers and Amazon Music is going to be biggest beneficiary of this drive. Take your smart speaker anywhere with you, connect it with internet and command it to play as many song as you want. Now, that’s we call a real revolution.

Music charts are being replaced by major streaming service playlist

New trends have been registered as 2019 is progressing. One of the latest trends is playlists of major streaming services like Spotify are getting more and more popular than charts. Once Billboard dominated the music world and artists would to anything to be in the top 10 rankings of the Billboard. But now, different playlists in digital streaming service apps carry more relevance and followed by music lovers across the world.

Viewing live concerts is becoming lot more easy

Music industry predictions 2019 already indicated that viewing of live concerts will become lot more easy as viewers can watch live streaming of live concerts through videos in the comfort of their homes. This has come as boon to those music lovers, who for one reason or two, cannot possibly enjoy a live concert in flesh and blood. This has in a way increased the worry of artists as this trend may hamper the strength of people turning up for their live concerts. To overcome this, they need to innovate and evolve the experience of live concerts in order to lure more music lovers to their concerts physically.

Artists are becoming more and more independent

In 2019 also internet continues to rule the music world and big record labels like HMV etc. are thing of past. There is current trend of artists establishing themselves on their own by making music and streaming it on internet. This way they are reaching out to masses without going through grueling process of selection by big record labels.

Social media will be less popular among artists for promotions

As the 2019 is progressing, it is being seen now trend of artists using social media as means to promote their albums, in order to grow and engage their fan base, is growing less popular and will decline further in coming months. Because of the increasing cost of promotions of social media many artists have started to drop off and focusing on other means to promote their albums. Instagram is only popular social platform carrying the load at least for a while until it starts to focus on revenue than its users.

Length of songs getting shorter

Over the last couple of years, many changes have been brought to the beginning and ending of a song for example fades giving way to beginning a song right on the chorus to hard endings.  New music trend picking pace in 2019 is the length of the song getting shorter.  It is more profitable to have a fan listen a song twice instead of listening only one longer song.

Final Thoughts

Every year many predictions are made regarding the music trends among which many come true. Before the beginning of 2019 many music predictions were made. Some of them mentioned above are materializing and some are expected to come true in coming months. Music trends across the world will continue to change but love for music will only grow bigger and bigger to aspire the artists globally to continue to make good music.
