Giving a TEDx talk is on my bucket list and if you’re reading this it may be on yours too. At first, I didn’t think there was anything active I could do to bring this dream into focus but then, like most things, I found that taking action is key to creating what you want most. I’m going to document my process in bringing this bucket list item on to my to do list and then to my: here’s my TEDx talk experience (fingers crossed).

The first thing I didn’t know: Some people are “picked” to give TEDx talks but MOST people apply. YES! They apply to share these amazing ideas with the world and these applications are open to EVERYONE. You’re already a step closer to your TEDx dream!

Four Next Steps towards TEDx

  1. Identify 4 TEDx organized events to follow on social media and subscribe for email updates so you are aware of when their application process opens.
  2. Learn more about the application process. I found this free ebook really helpful.
  3. Jot down the ideas that you have running around in your head now and then head to http://www.ted.com/ to see if your idea has already been talked about and at what level and from what perspective.
  4. Start building even more expertise on your ideas. I’ve blocked off 90 minutes each week to read and research the ideas I jotted down further.
