The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

I first came across the book, The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle, on a trip to New York. The man sitting next to me on the plane was reading the book all the way to New York, without taking his eyes off of it. I thought about the title — The Power of Now. I understand that’s a new consciousness to live in now. I thought to myself, What a hard thing to live in the moment… What a hard thing ot get rid of the clutter in your head and be spacious.

Months later, I bought the book and read it. Like the man who sat next to me on the plane, I could not pick up my head and take my eyes off of it. There are books that I have read that are just okay, but then there are books that just shake up my world. When I finished the book, I called up a friend to tell her about the book and to recommend for her to read it.

She said she had already read The Power of Now. In addition, she told me that I should have started experiencing the writing and teaching of Eckhart Tolle by reading his other book, A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose.

A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle

I rushed to the bookstore like someone who had just had a yummy plate and was still hungry for more, going for the second serving. I bought A New Earth. The mere pages of the book made me feel like Eckhart Tolle is taking us to a new height. The book is so mind opening, I could not bear it. It was like I was reading and holding my breath in amazement. Oh, wow. Wow. Wow. Wow, I thought.

Later on, I rushed to get his other books.

I knew then that I am his fan. He had indeed shaken up my world.
