Thought leaders speak about these concepts and how to change your individual life. I am taking it to the next level and helping humanity change. We are capable of living in a Peaceful World — we just need to THINK PEACE into reality. So, every day I unite people across the globe to THINK PEACE at 11:11 AM CDT for 2–3 minutes. It’s simple. It’s powerful. The masses uniting for a common outcome.

As a part of my series about “Big Ideas That Might Change The World In The Next Few Years” I had the pleasure of interviewing Sue Sexton. Sue is a Licensed Psychologist and the CEO of Sue Sexton Psychotherapy LLC, operating since 2010. Prior to this entrepreneurial adventure, Sue worked for 8 years in community mental health organizations serving children, adolescents, & adults. Sue has since become a Top Mental Health Speaker, Wellness Writer for Major Publications, Meditation Junkie, & Mind-Body-Spirit expert who is a firsthand believer that “Woo Woo Works!” Sue lives in St. Paul, MN with her two sons & her mini golden-doodle Clover.

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

In 2015, I had a huge change in my life. At 9-months pregnant, I came home from work one evening and my husband had moved out. That night I became a single mom of a non-verbal autistic 4-year-old, a newborn on the way, and beginning an unpaid maternity leave for 3-months on an empty bank account and wavering will to live. Life as I knew it was over. Despite this dramatic ending, new beginnings emerged just as quickly. I was led by a force larger than me, to discover past life regression therapy, energy medicine, and eventually how blending mind-body-spirit was a missing link in our current mental health paradigm. I was on a journey to discover myself and uncover how I ended up in this situation. Through this process, I healed deeply repressed trauma from my childhood: physical, sexual, and emotional abuse. And I did so in record time: only 9 months. It didn’t take many years of therapy. So, I am ready to share my story on the global level. Along the way, I was guided to learn about the power of our thoughts & how thoughts are the foundation of all that we create. I saw there was great potential to use this wisdom to create positive global change: World Peace. So, I am here today to help us understand how powerful humanity is when we blend our thoughts together for a common outcome: World Peace.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you began your career?

Meditation has been a game changer for my life. During meditation I began entering deep states of relaxation, connection, and awareness of our universe’s secrets. Over a course of several months I was feeling drawn to the power of our thoughts. I explored this concept during meditation but also began listening to videos and reading books written by thought leaders across human history. I was connecting dots as I did this. Then one morning I woke up and felt guided to use what I was learning to create global change. I realized that our thoughts can create World Peace. Through this realization I created the 11:11 Peace on Earth Movement. That was exactly one year ago now. I’ve been spreading the word and creating awareness ever since then.

Can you tell us about your “Big Idea That Might Change The World”?

I created the 11:11 Peace on Earth Movement, where daily I unite people across the globe to THINK PEACE for 2–3 minutes at 11:11 AM Central Standard Time (local time is converted based on time zones).

The movement is based on a variety of principals that create the foundation of our reality as we know it.

The most basic premise is that our thoughts create our reality. Thought leaders across time have expressed this truth that is hidden in plain sight. Simply: what we think, we become.’

“Thoughts form into words, words form into actions, actions form into habits, habits form into character, and character forms your destiny”– Lao Tzu.

“When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”– Dr. Wayne Dyer

“The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed unless we change our thinking.” — Albert Einstein

Some simple examples we see around us daily are: fashion trends, best selling books, diet trends, social justice movements, or typical hours worked in a day. We read about, see, and hear about the new trends in media. Then we have free will choice over whether to agree or not. To date, most of our population follows the trends of the Top 1%. Money does not equal power, like we are taught. Instead the power of the masses rising together equals power! Change happens when the people unite for a common purpose. So, it’ time to unite and use the power of the masses to THINK a new reality into creation. A reality of World Peace. Let’s break down how this works from diet trends to World Peace.

1. Collective consciousness: There are almost 8 billion humans on earth. While each of us resides in our own physical body, we are also interconnected at an energetic level. We feel other people’s feelings. We can sense an energy in a room when we walk in. We exchange energy and feel energy. Thoughts are a type of energy, called a subtle energy. When enough of humanity THINKS in the same way, it paves the way into reality (approximately 10% of humanity is required). From fashion to World Peace: thoughts are the foundation for what comes next (words, actions, habits, character, destiny). When we become conscious that thoughts hold power, we can be purposeful in co-creating the reality we WANT vs. more of what we don’t want. Then that reality spreads across humanity, through the energy web of our interconnection.

2. Manifesting: Manifesting is the term used when we become purposeful on creating more of what we desire. If we want to think something into creation, we need to spend at minimum 2–3 minutes focused on that intention. When you THINK PEACE, your thoughts vibrate to wherever you desire: an area of the world that needs support, a friend or family member, or to all people who are sick. When we visualize with our thoughts and emotions, really feeling and believing we can create this desire into reality, it WILL unfold.

3. Lastly, the Law of Attraction: Simply ask and you shall receive. When we ask for an experience, in either a conscious or unconscious manner, the universe must help deliver it. Our thought vibrations send out a signal that reverberates back to us what we put out. This is a law, like gravity. Something we can fully depend and rely on. Becoming conscious of what you want to create is a very powerful step in an individual’s life and to create progress in humanity.

Was there a “tipping point” that led you to this idea? Can you tell us that story?

After my divorce, I was determined to figure out how to feel lasting internal peace. How to remain centered no matter what was going on outside of me. I was led to a variety of teachers, books, and meditation. I kept track of my dreams. I learned how to listen to the universes’ guidance system. Then, a year ago exactly, this idea came into my mind when I woke up. A few months prior to this, I was learning about thoughts and how they are subtle energy, as well as, that they are the foundation of all our individual and collective realities. I realized that the accumulation of knowledge I had been seeking ended up being tied to this purpose. I needed to understand why and how this works. So, I could create it and explain it to others, helping them understand WHY and HOW thoughts can really create World Peace. It can feel like such a “far out there” concept — like I’m just a dreamer. But it’s real. And yes, I do admit I am a bit of a dreamer too, as the famous Walt Disney stated: “If you can dream it, you can do it.” World Peace is ours when enough of us THINK PEACE into reality! We can have lasting internal and external peace. Plain and simple.

What do you need to lead this idea to widespread adoption?

I want to spread the word about the 11:11 Peace on Earth Movement. I have a goal to unite at minimum 1 Billion people across the globe, daily. I need help connecting with like minded people who desire a peace filled world.

I have a Monthly Membership called BE THE CHANGE, to inspire people to learn how to change themselves, create change in their community, and use tools I know from being a Licensed Psychologist to heal & grow. Part of this package, I am offering a text-message reminder, so people can sign up to receive daily text blasts to remind them to THINK PEACE@ 11:11 AM CDT(and converts the time zone for them).

I am writing a Children/Teen Book Series and creating a Program for children to connect across the globe, for Peace. I need help connecting with publishers and publicists to get this process up and going.

Sponsors — financial support — people who know how to make things happen are also welcomed!

I’d also love access to Speaking Events to help share my healing journey and what I’ve learned about how to change the individual and collective reality.

Eventually, I would like to have live events where people gather for an hour or a weekend, to intentionally THINK PEACE for extended amounts of time. I’d like to host these across the globe.

What are your “5 Things I Wish Someone Told Me Before I Started” and why.

1. My career direction would change drastically: I am working a few hours each week with clients still, but the majority of my efforts and work are being placed towards this movement, speaking, and creating ways for mental health to be destigmatized as we co-create the world we desire to see (Public Speaking on Mental Health topics — A Children’s Book Series (release date in 2019) — The Be The Change Membership Program (release date March 2019) — Online Courses).

2. I would truly understand how the universe supports you: As I have been on my healing journey, I have experienced so many synchronistic moments that I know can only be aligned by a force greater than little ole me. For instance, I was receiving a nudge all summer to close my office/psychotherapy practice. I was scared (I’m a single income mom). I finally listened. As I asked for next steps, I would open my FB feed to see a Course about Public Speaking, for example. I would purchase it. I wrote my first speech. I pitched to speak at an event, they responded back letting me know someone just backed out of a date. The themed topic they were seeking was the same as what I just wrote my first speech on. We are so fully supported — we just must face our fears and follow those nudges (even if they seem irrational at times).

3. Building movements of any kind takes time and ongoing faith:when you create something from your heart and it means a lot to you, it can take time to gather people who feel just as committed to your cause. A year into this process, I am uniting more and more people and it’s so rewarding to see this come together on a global scale.

4. Thoughts matter because they create matter: I have literally seen my thoughts create an outcome. Before I decided to do this movement, I was contemplating building a community for single moms. The moment I started chewing on this idea, I met three new people within weeks who also shared a similar vision. Our thoughts create our reality, and this is just one example of how I’ve seen this first hand, and quickly, in my life. Everything is being orchestrated based on what you think and believe as your reality. So dream big!

5. How much happier my life would become on this journey: When I first started my healing journey, I was successful in my professional life while struggling in my personal life. I had a lot of healing to do. As I leaned in, explored my inner world, and shifted the old traumas — my life utterly transformed before my eyes. I am creating and chasing my dreams. World Peace is one of them. My happiness levels are higher than I ever imagined possible — and I wish someone could have told me to expect a beautiful life ahead of me (I would have felt less scared and trusted the process more along the way).

The future of work is a common theme. What can one do to “future proof” their career?

Follow your dreams. When you learn how to listen to your inner voice — that voice that brings inspiration, ideas, and excitement — that’s a force larger than you speaking to you. When you follow those nudges and insights — you WILL be fully supported. The barriers or issues you face are just detours to get you where you’re meant to be, so trust in the process. Learn the lessons along the way. Learn how to lean in and listen. Then take inspired action! The truth is, change is a constant in life. When we are open to growing and changing, any career can be future proofed.

Based on the future trends in your industry, if you had a million dollars, what would you invest in?

I would invest a million dollars into creating affordable and accessible online and in person programs that help people across the globe realize the power of their thoughts in creating their reality. We are conditioned to believe we are powerless, small, and destined to repeat the same day to day life, like a washing machine cycle (wash-rinse-repeat). It’s simply not true. We have the power to create a life that makes our hearts sing: filled with purpose, passion, and love. For example, I was raised in a middle-class blue-collar family. My family had a poverty mindset and intergenerational shame and abuse. Once I hit 18 years old, I decided to invest in a good college education (despite a lot of fear tactics about debt). Then, I invested in graduate school. Then as I became licensed, I refused to settle for a low salary while working in mental health clinics, so I created my own Private Practice. I continued to invest in myself. I took risks. Eventually, I took more risks and faced my inner issues. My feelings of lack and worthlessness, that no amount of money could fix. I began to invest on my internal growth: pealing away the old and creating room for new. We must be willing to invest in ourselves to change our lives. Drop excuses. Believe. Listen. Take inspired action. We must also be willing to heal our pain. As you shed what no longer serves you, remember that the universe is working for you. I want EVERYONE to realize the power they possess. The power of thoughts. The power to live a life they love. As I expand this message, I’d be spreading awareness of the 11:11 Peace on Earth Movement and using this as a concrete example of how thoughts matter. I’d invest in helping awareness grow: inner and outer peace are our future!

Can you share with our readers what you think are the most important “success habits” or “success mindsets”?

1. Believe in yourself.

2. You are a powerful creator of your reality. You are the only one who can choose to push repeat or reset along your journey.

3. Your thoughts are the brushstrokes on your canvas of life. Practice new ways of thinking about the world you live in. “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change” — Wayne Dyer.

4. You are not a victim. Yes, people project their hurt onto you and others. You decide to take it on as your own or realize it’s just that hurt people, hurt people. Take positive action to change your life. You are your own knight in shining armor or prince charming — nobody else can rescue you.

5. Nobody or no item outside of you can fix your brokenness. It’s an inside job. Only you can do it. Lean in and begin releasing what no longer serves you.

6. Stop comparing yourself to others. Comparisons are the killer of joy. If you need to compare, only look at your life 1 year, 5 years, or 10 years ago. Then celebrate the progress you’ve made. Then look ahead and dream about what 1 year, 5 years, and 10 years from now will look like. All while appreciating the here and now.

7. Discover your purpose. What do you naturally do well? What makes your heart sing? Where do you shine without effort? Drop the beliefs about whether you can make money and begin pursuing what makes your heart sing. You might surprise yourself and create an abundant lifestyle from living from your heart. We are all unique and here to serve our unique gifts to make the world a better place.

8. Face your feelings. Lean into them. Feel them. Release them. Feelings are just energetic messages for us. When we avoid feelings, we create messes in our relationships and lives. Trust that release creates relief.

9. Face your fears. Most of us are afraid we’ll have something bad happen or repeat more of the same. When you realize you are the creator of your reality and situations are our lessons, there truly is nothing to be afraid of. We are just learning. We receive obstacles, hurdles, or struggles as detours to get to where we want to be. It means you are learning and grow. Everyone has challenges, trust me. Continue to pursue the life of your dreams. There is nothing to be afraid of.

10. Own your awesomeness! Get into alignment — listen to guidance — take inspired action! Life is truly that easy (and difficult).

11. You are fully supported by a force larger than you, that some call The Universe, God, Allah, Creator, Soul, or Higher Self. The term doesn’t matter. What matters is that you can trust all is working FOR YOU. There is a plan even if you don’t see it yet.

Some very well known VCs read this column. If you had 60 seconds to make a pitch to a VC, what would you say?

I would love it if you would help co-create World Peace, by spreading this movement! The 11:11 Peace on Earth Movement can change the world as we know it. Peace is possible. Your support will leave an impact for the rest of humanity (yeah, you’d go down in human history known as the person who helped change the course of humanity — forever! A legend of your time. A hero! Next to names like Martin Luther King Jr, Abraham Lincoln, or Buddha. You hold the lever — just pull it!). Thanks for your consideration — it means a lot to me. THINK PEACE@ 11:11 AM CDT for 2–3 minutes daily.

(Seriously! This would mean SO much to me! I’m already grateful at the prospect of a VC seeing this. Thank you in advance for any and all support you can offer — truly. Warmly, Sue)
