7 Steps to Acting Career Success. Leverage your uniqueness to get the working Actor life you desire.

I had this ferocious and overwhelming need to create this guide to help you understand what it takes to make it in the Film and Entertainment Industry.

This is not for you if you are just trying out acting to see if you like it and you are wishy-washy about it all or you think Acting is something cool you can do on the weekends.

This is for you if you are devoted to making it big , as big as your imagination can go. As big as you believe you can.

I need to share this because I see a lot of disappointment; talent not going about it the right way. Not even the good way. Everyone seems to think they have to be a part of this large dissatisfied crowd of people who struggle to get auditions, who feel they need to be “lucky”, who believe Hollywood stars are more fortunate than they are, who fear mental health issues and who are gradually stopping to go to auditions as they witnesses their dreams slowly begin to rot inside of them.

I know this because I was there once. I also know how to get you right out of there.

Here are the steps you need to follow to learn to leverage your uniqueness for Acting Career Success.

Step 0 – Believe — this is a “must” and the only thing you need. The rest is a “handy structure” that will take you there faster.

Step 1 — Get Clarity. Your unique mission and your Why?

Step 2 — Get Focused. Your specific and unique goals.

Step 3 — Get Savvy. Doing what every one is doing will not get you what you want. Learn to leverage your uniqueness.

Step 4 — Be Active. There will be a lot of NEW activity. Enjoy it!

Step 5 — Consciously Grow your Network. Go after the specific connections you need to fulfil you mission.

Step 6 — Create the Right Place at the Right Time. You learn to create your unique ‘right place — right time’ On Demand.

Believe

When I was 5 years old and I decided I was going to be an Actress, I didn’t know what was going to happen, I just made a decision then I grew up and I went for it. That is faith.

I am now an Actor Writer who became a Filmmaker Producer.

As I was growing up I desired success respect, money, mastery of the craft and in-depth knowledge of the Industry. I still do.

But deep down what I want the most is to share my stories. Stories of hope and magic of love and heroes.

I want to impregnate the world with the essence of my passion.

Twenty years ago the idea of producing or directing a film was utterly impossible to me. My mind couldn’t begin to conceive a “how” to do it.

Ten years later I was doing an MA in Filmmaking.

I didn’t know what was going to happen, I made a decision and I went for it. That is faith.

Four years ago, when I was in pre-production with my 9th short film “Method” and in development with my first feature “Montana Mischief” I had won the Best Produced film Award at the San Diego International Kids Film Festival, a few years earlier. I had my films featuring in the Official selection A film for Peace, Depth of Field, Nairobi Film Festivals and in the Clermont Ferrand Short FilmFest market. My short film “Forgotten Paradise” had just been picked up by Palms Springs ShortFilmFest market.

I remember a day that I was with my friend Sally telling her about how things were going and I heard myself say something very alien to me, a thought I never had before:

I said…

“But, I don’t know if all I’m doing will take me where I want to go. I hope this is the right path. I don’t know if it is. What if it isn’t? “

I wasn’t feeling successful. Why was that? Maybe because even though I was featuring in a few of the top festivals worldwide, I had submitted my films to 100s of festivals and I got 100s of rejections before I got any good news at all.

I didn’t know what was going to happen, when I was submitting. I just went ahead and did it. That is faith.

The main reason why I wasn’t feeling successful was this: I didn’t stop to look at my success, appreciate it and say thank you. Doing that would have been faith.

Appreciating and enjoying every step of the journey and celebrating every single milestone every win is an intrinsic part of getting everything you want.

If you are not doing this part then you are not doing it right.

Doubt and fear surfaced, that day, due to lack of appreciation, the negativity was deeper than anything I’d experienced before. It was as ugly and dark as it was alien. The basic questions in my head and creeping down to my heart were:

What if I’m doing all this work and it leads me nowhere?

What if I’m doing all this for nothing?

What if at some point I took the wrong turning and I have missed my way to my dreams?

It sounds ridiculous, right?

But I remember clearly how real and reasonable this fear and doubt felt at the time

Fear can be powerful.

Even though it didn’t feel like me I didn’t try to resolve it or to question it, instead, I let it sink deep within my spirit and I let it grow. Just like shadows in the darkness of nightmares do. For weeks. Maybe months.

My enthusiasm decreased, my steps towards achieving my goals got less and less firm, my mind was kind of foggy. I started seriously deviating from my path.

I suddenly decided to peruse a career in Healthcare recruitment. I invested hundreds of pounds on this dead end (for me) new venture and I made some money too.

Then I decided to pour my energy, money and time into selling 3D printers. I convinced myself I was very interested in 3D printers. The investment here was even lager. Larger than I dare to put in writing.

I had unconsciously decided that I didn’t know the right direction to my dreams and therefore I lacked true purpose. I decided that my long life dreams weren’t enough. Somehow I convinced myself that passion wasn’t necessary.

Self-sabotage in action.

Until one day, out of the blue, perhaps because I was sick and tired of the-all consuming-fear and doubt, but most likely because I got distracted from it, my higher self brought up the issue loud and clear.

She Said…

“Have you forgotten?

This is about you. Your most authentic self will always be your most happy and most successful you.

Since when do we need a map?

You have always known that any path you choose, any road you decide on will take you to your dreams as long as you believe”

The path itself doesn’t matter. Is not about the path or the method the only thing that matters about the path is that you enjoy it.

Take the most fun path, or the easiest, or the one with the lovely flowers along that way it doesn’t matter. As long as you believe you will get to your destination. Your dream will come true. It is Law”
