BE YOU – The end of self-improvement?

A journey to your truest self

The Thrive Global Community welcomes voices from many spheres on our open platform. We publish pieces as written by outside contributors with a wide range of opinions, which don’t necessarily reflect our own. Community stories are not commissioned by our editorial team and must meet our guidelines prior to being published.

Howard Thurman said

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive”

And yet, we often stop ourselves from doing what really makes us come alive.

what would people say?

what if I fail?

what if I succeed?

I don’t want to stand out

I don’t want to be left alone

I don’t want to rock the boat

I am scared

I don’t actually know what makes me come alive or if I did know I am too busy for it now.

I have lost myself doing all the things for all the people all the time.

what if there is nothing wrong with these very human fears?

what if it was less about failure or success and more about the journey?

what if discovering who you are and what you are capable of brought joy to your life and inspiration to others?

what if, underneath the busyness and habitual thinking, you could access your own innate wisdom that does know?

what if you could be a loving force in the world and feel more alive than you ever have?

what if the world needs your voice?

what if you have everything you need, right now, no self-improvement required?

what if you could relax and enjoy your life?

Often people attempt to live their lives backwards: they try to have more things, or more money, in order to be more of what they want, so that they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be who you really are, then do what you need to do, in order to have what you want.

Bravery is not the antidote to fear, love is! Love for yourself exactly as you are, which paradoxically, leads to effortless change and joyful creativity.

If your heart longs for more and you would love to explore what it means to show up fully as yourself in the world, I invite you to join me in my new 4 week programme Be You.

We begin on June 6th, which is my birthday and I am offering a special birthday discount of £66 to the first few subscribers. The discount code is in the video on my sales page.

This the opposite of a self-improvement plan. It is a celebration of who you really are and what you are capable of, when you give YOURSELF permission to shine.

It is a 4 week exploration into what makes YOU come alive.

It is a chance to find out, in the words of Mary Oliver

“What is it YOU plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
