Be with it, be sad

Have you ever felt sad and tried to avoid it? What if you actually sat with it, and felt it?

The Thrive Global Community welcomes voices from many spheres on our open platform. We publish pieces as written by outside contributors with a wide range of opinions, which don’t necessarily reflect our own. Community stories are not commissioned by our editorial team and must meet our guidelines prior to being published.

But why are you sad?

Oh loved one

Is it because you know that the moon

Will never meet the sun?

Is it for the fact that you yearn to be one

Yet experience separation like breathing?

Is it that the unhealed wounds

Are no longer bleeding, yet are still not scars?

Where did you think you would find the answers?

In the sky?

Is that why you look up to god?

In the tilt of your neck – there is energy

There is power

There is choice

For the eyes that look up

Can also look down

And the eyes that see out

Can also see in

They say trying to forget the past

Is almost as frivolous as trying to plan for the future

So be here now

Be sad

Transcend it

Be with it

Release it

And be you

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
