The world is living in current times. We are in difficult times. Nevertheless, we are still, in time. Which means we are immersed within a rhythm of movement. It is through movement, where creativity and life is birthed. Time will go on, whether we sing with it, or not. Whether we dance through it, or not. Its best to maneuver through the inner workings of time. Moving continuously, even when we feel stifled, or emotionally “stuck” within. When you continue to sing with time, even when the world feels it has stopped, is when you witness the hidden rewards.

The recent release of R&B singer and actor, Rotimis Unplugged Sessions EP is living proof of what happens when a person continues to move, as the world, gets still. If you were to close your eyes, you could imagine the artist having truly connected to the Universal atmosphere, while creating this aesthetic. Listening to the project, it is evident of nighttime being the haven for such creativity. As if the singer, and creative team, went on a mental escapade into certain planes of heaven’s galaxies. Aligning it with every color, rhythmic stroke, and musical texture that it came upon. The guitar became streams of velvet, to soothe any worries or frustrations. All that needed to be done was an initial start into music’s creation. The Universe would do the rest!; Edits By Lauren Kaye Clark

The wonder of this fantastical collection is that it is created in a period when energies and human vibrations are low. People are forced to remove themselves. Those who are not used to being alone for long terms, in the comforts of their own home, have gone into a state of panic. They never had to do this before. They have never practiced this, before. This phenomenon of moving, until one has melted away rigid barriers. Until a person has been captured into this natural flow of feeling one’s environment (in all its discomforts, agonies, and pains). Matriculating in it, until it becomes, familiar. However one decides to sing, until re-gaining some type of control within stifled or rigid auras and spacing. This is the phenomenon of Unplugged Sessions EP.

Pressure, discomfort, and movement creates, transformation. When an artist goes through these elements, they can never be the same, again. Never. The work requires change. Furthermore, circumstances forces one to discover and explore new styles, colors, textures, patterns, and designs, in order to enhance one’s creativity. Nighttime has a way of stimulating a bit of mental softness in the creative process, if we are willing to be vulnerable to its silent (and powerful) allure. When the night is transformed to a place of holistic production, the Universe will whisper intimate secrets. Designing a euphoria, where in our ability to create, we are discovering things about ourselves, that were oblivious to our knowing.; Edits By Lauren Kaye Clark

One of the psychological twists in the production of Unplugged Sessions EP is that it has challenged many people’s limited perspective of time. “Ideally” this is not a time when people should be moving forward in art’s creation. We should be protecting ourselves and allowing our minds to “postpone” any dreams or ambitions we had for the 2020 year. Right? Whoever said that’s how we are to currently operate. Time stops for no one and nothing. Not even in the midst of a public health crisis. So, why should humanity stop in its creativity? On the contrary, it is the inverse, which should take place. When destructive energies arise, you create even more. Rising higher than the personal expectations, so that in the midst of uncertainty, one is still connected to that Universal lifeline. That’s one of the lessons being learned by the release of this recent collection of musical aesthetics.

Another important lesson of Rotimi’s latest project is the magical sector of work’s timeframe. Within a short amount of time, it was created. It did not require lengthy planning, super PR campaign, or months of preparation. It simply happened! Such brings up another fascination. Creativity does not have to take long. It can be spontaneous, and on the spur of the moment. It is not limited or restricted within certain timing because movement’s time does not operate as so. Through this thinking, we are elevated to experiencing a higher level. It means we already needed to be connected to that level, or in search of it. It translates as having practiced connecting with a certain part of our sensory; mastering our abilities of connecting with any environment (including indoors), while utilizing its energies for the creative process. It goes to show that inspiration is all around us. The magic of production encompasses every part of our Being and surroundings.; Edits By Lauren Kaye Clark

There is an intriguing wonder regarding Unplugged Sessions EP! It feels as if it is breaking through some hidden barrier. Dismantling constrictions, while melting away fear’s contempt. Its encouraging listeners to love, and feel the bounties of happiness. Even in the midst of chaos and anxiety. It also serves as a reminder in how music has the power to bring a centered therapy, during dangerous times. Holding onto music’s power gives mental and emotional clarity and stability. There is something about its Universal element, which causes people to become re-centered. Its why music is sacred. Those performing it, are responsible for its sacred intimacies. It is nothing to play with, and honesty is a crucial principle in its haven.

The album, Unplugged Sessions EP, by actor and singer, Rotimi, is a knowledge book. The collection of songs proclaims it. The atmosphere, in which it was made, states it. What elevates this project is the location and timing. As previously mentioned, just by listening to the project, you can tell it was made in the comfort’s of night’s rhythm. There are sounds on the project, which are just too delicate, too tranquil to have been conducted in the day. Night has its particular way of illuminating life’s calm. This album transforms our homes into havens of magic, while creating our wildest dreams. It is as if we are getting what we have wished for. Working and producing in the comforts of our homes, or residential spaces. They become fantastical wonderlands and incumbents of self therapy. We are not trapped inside of our homes. On the contrary we have amplified our ability of regenerating and sustaining life, within them. The creative sector is perfect for doing such. A calmness has been brought to the table. Our imaginations are being directed into the source of its origin.

Clearly this body of work is a smart portion of what can be designed. That’s the secret of this current era. It subconsciously encourages us to delve further into our existence. Exploring more and appreciating the joy and euphoria we experience once we discover new treasures to our inner and outer Being. Its fulfilling. Furthermore, it brings us more to be in touch with our power, in these given times. If humanity truly desires life, we can get it. If we wish to see life celebrated, in the midst of sorrow, that can happen, as well. It all relates to the power of our minds, and if we want to sing, despite stilled timings. As with this project, we find the treasures if we simply, move.; Edits By Lauren Kaye Clark

Another key element of the Unplugged Sessions EP collection is the authenticity. Forget the flashing lights, the loud cheers, and other attributes coming with fame. When an artist has retreated into musical realness, they become whole. They are safe. Secrets, blackmail, and imperfections cannot silence them, anymore. Speaking that truth in the confines of one’s home prepares anyone to carry it out into the world. Whether its shortcomings, desire for authentic love, addiction, self-esteem, or other personal struggles, a person heals by bringing honesty, home. Home becomes the platform for musical intimacies in the public gaze. When no one is watching, and its just the artist, can that person actually paint the authenticity of their reality? Its totally different from those famed stars, who have utilized the public eye, as the basis for their self-esteem. Only to retreat in depression, and emotional decline, when they return to their residents. Unplugged Sessions EP subconsciously brings these issues to the table. After all, during this time of quarantine, people are forced to deal with those hidden problems, behind the bustle of work and faux social interactions. Now, individuals must grapple with their realities. And, if they are not pretty, how will they fix it. In this time, one’s living space has become their shrink. While in the background, Unplugged Sessions EP guides listeners through this wellness process.

Whether cities, states, and rural communities become still, the world continues to rotate. The Universe is always in a steady constant of flow. There is nothing that will stop it. Humanity is caught within a particular crossroad. Should we stop? Or should we go? Technically, there are only two options. That’s only if you have limited eyes. Current times require a little more innovation. However, there is one thing that never changes. You’ve got to move! Even within the confines of limited spacing. OR Music, will leave you, behind!; Edits By Lauren Kaye Clark
