Arianna Huffington and Rudy Mettia on Why You Need a Movement Break

Healthy stretches to do at your desk.

Thrive Global CEO Arianna Huffington and Udaya yoga master Rudy Mettia explain why moving throughout your day is important — and they’re showing us just how to do so.

Mettia runs through a handful of full body stretches and breathing practices you can do seated or standing up next to your desk. He stresses that lengthening your spine, breathing deeply and breaking linear sitting patterns are essential to your health.

“If you’re in the middle of the afternoon slump, instead of going and having a sweet or another cup of coffee — or worse, a smoke break — just take a movement break,” Arianna says.
