When Life Gives you A Tornado, Learn to Swirl

Dodgeballs

Looking at the positive side of life is not always easy. Things come at us in this life as quickly as curveballs and we are left to dodge them. It seems sometimes as quickly as we dodge them, there is another one flying our way. It is extremely difficult sometimes to find the purpose in all of this living. Today I will give you some tips on how to look at the positive side of life even when all seems hopeless.

The Power of Positive Thinking

The first step to looking at the positive side of life is to be optimistic! You are capable of optimism even if you are a glass half empty kind of guy. When your car breaks down on the side of the road, you can look at it as an opportunity or a challenge! You can time how long it takes for a tow truck to arrive and when it gets there, be friendly to the tow truck driver! You can both start talking and before you know it, you may have a friend in this world that you didn’t have before! This is only one example of how you can take life’s negatives and turn it into something positive.

Monday Blues

It is Monday and your alarm is going off. You feel like calling in sick because you just don’t feel like getting out of bed today! Work sounds like the worst possible place to be right now and you get there and would rather be anywhere else. A great tip on how to stay positive at work is this: just smile. Every time you don’t feel like completing a task or getting work done, just smile and complete it with a positive mental attitude. Our mindset controls 90 percent of how we behave and react to situations. To stay positive at work, you just need to think about how there are so many homeless men on the street. There are homeless men on the sidewalks asking for change. Most would love to have a job like the one you have just to put some food in their mouths. The key is to be grateful and thankful that you are blessed with your “terrible” job.

A Clouded View

The reason for life can be very clear when we look at things from a different perspective. We may feel sometimes that we wish life was over already. Things get so bad sometimes it can be hard not to think that way. This may be especially true after the loss of a loved one or a tragedy of equal or greater magnitude. Someone somewhere though might be waking up and knowing their last breath on earth will come today. Maybe they will regret not getting to do things they may have wanted to do in their lifetime. You have a healthy body with two arms and two legs and a brain and a lot of time left on this Earth. You can go out and experience new adventures and explore new places. The positive side of life does not always have to be going places either. It can be time indoors with a best friend or just you and a book on the side of the river in the sunshine. If we listen in silence, the reason for life may present itself in a way we never expected before.

A Different Perspective

The positive side of life is that we are blessed to embrace it and what each new day brings. All of the challenges that come at us just make it more fun. If life was perfect, it would be so boring and that is very important to remember. We should have fun while we are here and not worry about the future. All we are promised is the present moment. If we dwell on what has happened or what will happen to us in the future, our life isn’t going to be very fun. Keeping a positive mental attitude and always looking at the bright side of life I believe will keep you young for as long as you live. Look at the bright side of things and laugh like never before and you will find peace in this world.
