7 Tips For Keeping Calm and Building Confidence, Now and Forever…

After 12 years as a massage therapist I realized for most people, everyday’s a scary and stressful time. We’ve been conditioned this way and we have to break the cycle, if not for us for our children...

Fear and stress are a constant struggle we have to break the cycle, if not for ourselves than for our children..

I was almost paralyzed with fear the first week of the corona virus quarantine… Watching and reading news at every opportunity was just sucking the life out of me, I hadn’t felt that helpless and hopeless in years.

After that I promised myself I would do whatever in my power to never feel that way again. I couldn’t let my children see me that way, I had to give them hope … They had to see me calm and confident.

I’ve climbed these dark depths before I knew where to start, my mind. The first thing I had to do was limit the amount of time I spent reading about the virus. If it was important there would be plenty of people talking about it.

The next thing we as a household needed to do was not make it the center of our lives. Stop talking about it so much and just make the most of this time together. Laughing and loving, playing games, talking, getting healthy…

Focusing on a happier more positive future. I was laid off like so many others but I wasn’t happy there anyways … This was my time to focus on myself, to improve myself, body and mind. Develop new skills and be a better role model for my children. Coming out of this better and stronger….

As a wellness coach I now knew the exact process…

  • Define what’s most important
  • Define the areas of our life we want to improve, family, fun, meaning, love etc…
  • Define the type of person I want to be; father, son, brother, healer etc…
  • Create a plan using this info as a guide
  • Focus on solutions not problems

Problems drain our energy and don’t allow our brains to function efficiently. While focusing on solutions not only helps us feel better but makes us more cooperative, creative and better at problem solving.

This is a very scary and stressful time. But after 12 years as a massage therapist I realized for most people everyday’s a scary and stressful time. We’ve been conditioned this way and we have to break the cycle, if not for ourselves than at least for our children…

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
