How this founder went from stressful to stress-free in 5 minutes per day

About 3 years ago, everything felt overwhelming. I was running my start-up, Locket, and the company was growing so fast. We raised over $3 million dollars within a year of starting the company. I found myself in this cycle of just work/work/work/sleep/work. Sometimes just no sleep.

From time to time other people had recommended meditation to me, raving about the positive effects it had on their lives. I always ignored it; thinking it’s not for me.

And my favorite excuse “I DON’T HAVE TIME FOR MEDITATION!”

I could not have been more wrong. I finally discovered meditation when my coach got me to do “a quick exercise” where he instructed me to close my eyes, take a deep breath in and inhale/exhale a few times.

Fast forward 3 years later, meditation means so much to me that I started a new business, Simple Habit, around it. I even dropped out of Stanford Business School to pursue this idea because I genuinely believe in it. And best of all, I only meditate for 5 minutes at a time.

Meditation has allowed me to run a business while still remaining happy.

I never, ever, ever would have been able to predict this. And as a person who tried to control everything around me, it was a shock. Let me unpack what happened to me; maybe there is something that will help you.

Meditation doesn’t have to be to be hard. It can be as simple as a few deep breaths before going into a meeting. The trick that worked for me is to think of it as a vitamin, enhancing your day-to-day life.
