6 ways to be you, the best version of you and still thrive.

Own your true self and watch the world adapt.

The truth is, it’s not always easy standing up for yourself and going for a goal which seems to be going no where. Even extreme extroverts will tell you sometimes it’s hard standing up for what you really believe in when others don’t.

I’m sure you’ve heard someone say “he/she is such a “{insert not nice adjective here}, that’s never going to work”. If we stop and think about this – the question I have is do you really think that people are intentionally horribly negative by design? I certainly hope not.

So what do we do to help ourselves in trying times?

1. Remember this too shall pass.  Try and focus on your next move once you get through standing your ground. Remember the only constant is change.

“Things change. And friends leave. Life doesn’t stop for anybody.”- Stephen Chbosky

2. Ask yourself why do you believe this and why does it bother you? Is it based on fact or opinion. Think long and hard about your stance and if you can back it up with anything other than hearsay.

3. Are you being authentic if you cave? If you close your eyes, are you proud of the person you tuck into bed at night if you do let someone else govern your sense of self?

4. How badly do you want it? Willpower is not enough. Are you planning and following through on your strategies to get through the trying times?

5. Who has your back? Who are your accountability partners and who is supporting you.

6. Do you believe in yourself? No one will if you don’t. At the end of the day how you perceive yourself is just as powerful, if not more powerful than reality.

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
