I started collecting quotes in the fifth grade. Thanks go to my teacher then–Mrs. Voss who made me write “To thine own self be true” 100 times on the blackboard because I was late to class that day.

I was not so thankful at the time, but in the decades that have passed, I have now collected more than 1,000 favorite quotes on topics ranging from appreciation to wisdom. And I have published many of them in books including The Little Book of Gratitude Quotes, The Little Book of Quotes by Women, and The Little Book of Success Quotes. So a belated “thank you” to a great teacher.
