I had the pleasure of interviewing Barbora Zeigler. Barbora is a professional photographer with FashionLoveConnection.

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

Thank you for the opportunity to talk us women behind the camera! If I think about Photography, first I imagine the photographs back at my home in Europe. They were always a really important part of my life and I would spend hours looking at old analog pictures of my family and friends. Growing up in a small town I always wondered about the rest of the world and that’s why when I got a chance I started traveling and I purchased my first film video camera. Since then I always filmed everything. That’s when I started getting comfortable being behind the camera. Then life went on and I tried different jobs, traveled the world, but something brought me back to tell more and that’s when I choose a career as a Photographer. Thi is because I love to tell stories that maybe one day can show someone else how times were for us and how things and everything constantly changes. Something that only a photo can do, is freeze a moment that will live forever. A good Photograph has a lot to say, and if we take the time to listen we can learn a lot from it.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started your career?

The most interesting stories about my work are the people that I got a chance to meet and places I got to see. I’m not sure if there could be something better than that. It feels like the universe connects all of us at the right moments for the right projects and reasons.

Can you share a story about the funniest mistake you made when you were first starting? Can you tell us what lesson you learned from that?

In the beginning, I was usually making a lot of mistakes, but that’s how we learn. Mistakes like a full memory card, dead battery, forgotten stuff before and after set, fall on the rocks to name a few. Most recently my back became unzipped and opened while I was in a rush and all my equipment end up on the street. Yes, the body of my camera was broken but fortunately, I was able to get it fixed. Not that much fun, but things happened and I learned from it. Well, the best thing I can say it is a good idea to have an assistant and not do everything by your self. Write down all the important things to remember and avoid simples errors. Remember we are just a human’s and sometimes things happen, so don’t be so hard on yourself and other’s just love how amazing it is to learn from our mistakes.

What do you think makes your work stand out? Can you share a story?

I’m a self-employed freelance Photographer at FashionLoveConnection.com and it is always big bustle 😉 But, I’m determined and super creative and in love with what I do. Surrounding myself with a lot of incredible people also helps. As a freelance photographer, you have to create opportunities, set your own goals, and achieve your and the customer’s vision. With a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, artistic experiences I apply in ever shoot or style is why I think my work stands out. Because of my traveled and different background, I have an open mind with lots of visionary mixtures. My background helps me to communicate with people from all around the world and that way makes it easier to connect.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Learn, but do not follow the rules, at least not always 😉

Be original and get inspired but then use that to inspire others too.

Practice and stay creative, find your vision and then work on as much as you can and remember nothing comes easy.

If you are a photographer you may always have your camera with you but sometimes leaving it at home helps to get new inspiration. Well, you could miss your best picture.;)

Always find time for yourself with meditations, good talks, and new inspirations.

Go out meet people, connect and don’t be afraid that there is already too many photographers because who knows who might be the next best one.

Search for new creative ideas.

There are lots of online opportunities to connect, sell or show your work, attract new customers, build your portfolio and start your own business, just find what best works for you.

Always develop yourself. The times are changing and so is technology, so don’t stay behind. Just go for it! It is a lot of work but if you love what you do than nothing can’t stop you.

Continuous developing of a good website and portfolio is key.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

There is definitely more than just one person who helped me and still helping along away. My family who always believe in me, my husband who loves me, and friends who listen and give you their true opinion. I would love to dedicate everything to my grandmother who loves me so much and taught me to be a better person and was always there for me when I needed. She helped me financially so I could buy my plane ticket to the US and follow my dreams. (The money I sent her back after a short period of living by my own here and working different jobs ) Unfortunately, we didn’t make it to be able to hug again. Before I had a chance to visit back home she passed away. So just think about that. Money or success can’t buy your time. So always spend it wisely with people you love the most. I’m grateful to her for everything I accomplished and was able to found my passion, love of my life, new friends and home with my beautiful pets. There are no regrets and I know my grandmom is proud to see me have a better life than I ever lived before. Thank you.

Are you working on any exciting projects now?

Yes, Lot’s of new projects and collaborations are on the way and some I’m working on now. I just started a project for an amazing organic cosmetics of Tracie Martyn known and used by many celebrities. (I love and used them too). Then I started working on my new future project with beautiful and courageousness women’s and all together. We are trying to embrace our sexuality in beautiful photographs, and send it messages to other woman and man. How to love yourself and how imperfections made us perfect. There are some other amazing projects alongside with my husband who does photography & video too. Isn’t it exciting?

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

Inspire More dream chasers and people who believe in themselves and the things that are in their heart showing what to do it and make them ( and people around ) feel happy. No matter where you come from or how much money you have or you will make, how many people look at you like you are crazy. Just do what you love the most, what you always dreamed about it or simply want right now and then everything else will follow. Don’t forget help out more, but don’t be afraid ask for it if it’s needed. Do more meaningful things and forgot about the ego. With love and open heart you will find the right way. Don’t ever let your success be bigger than you or anybody else around you, always stay humble. Love and good luck to everyone

Can you share “5 Things Anyone Can Do To Take Stunning Photos”. Please an example for each.

1. Shooting in the studio is fun but nothing can be more challenging and at the same time exciting like shooting on the streets. So get out and play with your shutter speed and depths of fields.

2. They said don’t take photos towards the sun well try it some of my best pictures I did it and the effects are great.

3. If you shoot outside always choose the right time for what you are looking for, the colors are constantly changing and the weather is too.

4. When shooting indoors try different lights and filters for different coloring effects.

5. It is a lot of fun and very challenging to shoot with multiple exposures and the photographs that come out are always a lot of fun too.

You are a person of great influence. If you could start a movement that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be? You never know what your idea can trigger. 🙂

Definitely, more equality and understanding of each others diversity. More love and peace in this beautiful world. Help out and get involved with different charities, care about climate change and where your trash is going. Learn about how to live a sustainable life. Each of us can make a small difference but all of us can make a big one. Ask your friend how they are doing, connect with nature, think positive, exercise, smile, and be happy.
