“I started the Hear Me Out, Kindness Matters movement. It all started with my single “Hear Me Out”. It’s about us, the younger generation, uniting to make this world a better place. It’s about empowerment, but also being heard and having a voice. Being kind to the environment, animals and each other.”
I had the pleasure to interview Kacey Fifield. Kacey is a 13 year old actress and singer/songwriter from Los Angeles, California pursuing her dreams in the entertainment industry. She has a passion for singing, acting and helping others, especially all animals in need. Her original songs, “Hear me Out”, Won’t Give Up”, “Listen to the Silence” and more are available on all digital outlets. She believes that kindness matters and little by little we can make our world better. Catch her on “Kids React” on YouTube and on “Game Shakers” and “React To That” on Nickelodeon. Also, check out her YouTube channel Kacey Fifield Variety for newest vlogs and music videos.
Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
When I was about 7 years old, I heard a commercial on the radio saying “Do you want to see yourself in TV? Call this number to apply to audition for this!” I begged my mom to call and she did! I went to the acting school and got in, then, after a few months of training, I attended IMTA, an acting talent competition with various categories. I won some awards and the rest is history!
Can you share the funniest or most interesting story that occurred to you in the course of your acting/directing/performing/hosting career?
Gosh! There have been so many throughout the years! My favorite one is from when I was on set of a dog food commercial. They put little dog treats in my hair so my co-star dog would come and lick my face! We needed the dog to jump on me and the trick worked! Since we did multiple re-takes, I got a lot of doggy licks that day!
What are some of the most interesting or exciting projects you are working on now?
I have just released my newest music video for my original single, “Listen to The Silence”. I love this song and I enjoyed filming the music video. Currently I am working on yet another new song. I am in the process of writing the lyrics and working on music. I am also editing a few videos for my YouTube channel, Kacey Fifield Variety and auditioning for a couple of great acting parts. Make sure to follow my journey to find out more
Who are some of the most interesting people you have interacted with? What was that like? Do you have any stories?
I enjoy being on set and meeting new people. I have worked with so many over the years! Most recently I have worked with a famous Youtuber Lele Pons in a very funny video of hers. It was very cool to see how she makes comedy on the go. I have also recently met Colleen Ballinger aka MIRANDA SINGS who is super sweet. I reacted to her videos on Kids React a while back and she remembered me so it was fun to chat.
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?
Most importantly you have to love what you do, therefore if you don’t like auditions and being on set, acting is not for you. Also take breaks to be a normal kid as much as possible. Have fun with your friends but be prepared when it comes to auditions.
You are a person of great influence. If you could start a movement that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be? You never know what your idea can trigger. 🙂
Definitely Hear me Out, Kindness Matters movement. It all started out with my single “Hear Me Out” about us, the younger generation, uniting to make this world a better place. It’s about empowerment, but also being heard and having a voice. Being kind to the environment, animals and each other. To share my vision, I have hosted an event to promote kindness where we screened my music video for “Hear Me Out”. I love the idea of taking it farther and making a movement.
What are your “5 things I wish someone told me when I first started” and why. Please share a story or example for each.
1. You will hear many no’s before you hear one yes. I am actually pretty good about that and don’t take things personally.
2. Trust your gut feeling and your judgment when making acting choices. There was one instance recently when at a callback I tried a different approach as suggested by one of my acting coaches even though I didn’t quite feel it. Half way through, the casting director asked me to switch to my original interpretation. I did it my way and they loved it!
3. Be proud of yourself no matter what! Even when you don’t get the outcome you wanted, reward yourself for putting in all the hard work. And know that down the line it will bring positive results.
4. Don’t procrastinate! Get your work done, THEN relax.
5. Be supportive of your friends in the industry! I am always happy for others and their success.
Can you please give us your favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share how that was relevant to you in your life?
I absolutely love the quote “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” by Martin Luther King Jr. It’s super important because it reminds us to be kind and positive and I try to be both every day!
None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story about that?
My mom has always been my biggest supporter! She’s helped me with absolutely everything and I’m so grateful for her. She loves me unconditionally, but never hesitates to give me constructive criticism to improve my craft. I have the best mom 🙂
Some of the biggest names in Business, VC funding, Sports, and Entertainment read this column. Is there a person in the world, or in the US whom you would love to have a private breakfast or lunch with, and why? He or she might see this. 🙂
Ooohhh there are so many, but one that jumps to my mind is definitely Taylor Swift. I just love her so much for her music, her personality and passion. Let’s have breakfast Taylor 🙂
