- Thankful List
The perfect way to start your day is to write down one aspect of life that you are thankful for. This will be an easy task at first but over time you will find yourselves diving into the details. When you begin the day by recognizing something you’re thankful for, your appreciation is sure to get a boost. Life is taken for granted all too often and this activity is sure to boost the quality within your days.
2. Contact a loved one
Contacting a friend or family member each morning is a fantastic action to take. Just a simple “Have a great day!” or “Hope your week is going well!” has an immense impact on people. My mother sends me a simple text every morning and it always helps prepare me for the day. Getting in touch with a loved one is sure to better your days and can give you some much needed confidence.
One of the most effective ways to relieve stress and raise self-esteem is to exercise. Finding the time to do some sort of exercise is proven to better your life. Whether it is waking up early to walk, run, or even lifting weights at night, all of these can benefit your quality of life. Not only does exercise benefit you physically, but it can unlock serious creativity.
4. Put your phone away for a bit
Although phones can be used for getting in touch with loved ones, as I touched on in #2, we can all benefit from setting them down for a bit. Americans collectively check their phones 8 billion times a day, according to Time Magazine. Humans need time to themselves and setting the phone down to think to ourselves can add quality to each day. Even 10–15 minutes per day without your cellular device can improve each day!
5. Write down a “Today I…” list
Every night before you go to sleep, write down a list of things you accomplished that day. This activity has the potential to heighten self-esteem and really give you a sense of where you are headed. Then, in the times of self-doubt, you can always go back and reflect on what you have achieved. We often lose track of the things we accomplish and this method of reflection can keep you on track. So, try starting your day by adding a point to the “thankful” list and end it by creating a “Today I…” list.
