Are you in a slump? Unmotivated, your innovation and creativity blocked? We are often our own worst enemies when it comes to living a creatively fulfilling life. Creative energy is like life and the Universe flowing through us that manifests in what we do. It doesn’t matter if you are an artist, an accountant, a chef or an analyst; all vocations have an element of creativity.

Here are 4 life hacks to get you creating and aligned with life.

1) Silence the mind

In order to create, first and foremost, the mind needs to be free. Silencing your mind and environment from people and media gives space to new thought and encourages this flow. Silence is a key to creativity. Emptying it through simple meditation or breathing exercises gives space to gain inspiration that creativity thrives on.

2) When Stuck, Take a Walk

When Einstein was stuck on a problem, he would row his boat to the middle of a lake. Physical activity allows your subconscious mind (a more powerful space than the conscious one) to process information. Don’t sweat your lack of a boat. Walking meditation calms and de-clutters the mind, allowing clarity and creativity.

3) Journaling

Having a journal to write down ideas, observations, quotes and even dreams proves very important. Scribble down everything you think is a good idea, chances are some will be. Dream journaling is best done as soon as you wake up; it is a way to get in touch with your subconscious mind and its creative core.

4) Interactions That Inspire

Instead of letting the ego take centre stage in your interactions, learn to listen and ask more questions. Use conversation to see the world through someone else’s eyes. This shift of focus from the ‘self’ to the ‘other’ brings new life to the creative mind. Watch good movies, read books by people at the top of your field. These are your conversations with the world’s best.
