  1. I’ve learned — that you cannot make anyone love you, just be yourself and the right people will love you.
  2. I’ve learned — that no matter how much you care, some people just don’t care.
  3. I’ve learned — that it takes years to build trust and only seconds to destroy it.
  4. I’ve learned — that no matter what you have in your life, what’s most important is whom you have in your life.
  5. I’ve learned — that you should never compare yourself to others, but to your own self and what your best self can do.
  6. I’ve learned — that it doesn’t matter what happens to you, what matters is what you do about it.
  7. I’ve learned — that you can count on someone’s charm only for about 15 minutes, then that person better know something.
  8. I’ve learned — that for a second someone can do something that can cause you heartache for a lifetime.
  9. I’ve learned — that you can move on long after you’ve decided that you cannot.
  10. I’ve learned — that it takes a long time to become the person you want to be.
  11. I’ve learned — that it’s much easier for people to react than to think.
  12. I’ve learned — that you should always leave your loved ones with loving words. Maybe this is the last time you will see them.
  13. I’ve learned — that you are responsible for what you do, regardless of how you feel.
  14. I’ve learned — that you can either control your attitude, or it will control you.
  15. I’ve learned — that regardless of how hot and steamy the honeymoon phase of a relationship is, passion fades away and it’s good to have something else to take its place.
  16. I’ve learned — that heroes are the people who do what has to be done, regardless of the consequences.
  17. I’ve learned — that we can do everything and absolutely nothing with a best friend and have the best time ever.
  18. I’ve learned — that there are people who sincerely love; they just don’t know how to show it.
  19. I’ve learned — that money is a lousy way of keeping score at success.
  20. I’ve learned — that it’s okay for people to be angry, but that doesn’t give them the right to be cruel.
  21. I’ve learned — that true friendship continues to grow even over long distance.
  22. I’ve learned — that maturity depends more on what experiences one has, what he or she has learned from them and much less of how many birthdays one has celebrated.
  23. I’ve learned — that even best friends will hurt you from time to time and you must forgive them.
  24. I’ve learned — that it’s not always enough to forgive others; sometimes you have to forgive yourself.
  25. I’ve learned — that just because two people argue that doesn’t mean that they don’t love each other, or if they don’t argue that they do love each other.
  26. I’ve learned — that two people can look at the same thing and see something totally different.
  27. I’ve learned — that people who you’ve known for years can wound you within hours.
  28. I’ve learned — that people who you barely know can change your life within hours.
  29. I’ve learned — that the paradigm people live in is not everything that is offered to us.
  30. I’ve learned — that the people we care about most in our life are physically taken too soon.
  31. I’ve learned — that although the word “love” can have many different meanings, it loses its value when there are no actions.
  32. I’ve learned — that it’s difficult to determine where to draw the line between the good and not hurting people’s feelings, so you can defend what you believe in.

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
