This was a pleasure interviewing Andrawos Bassous

Andrawos Bassous a Palestinian-Swedish photographer, musician and YouTuber. A man of multiple skills and talents, he moves as easily in the world of photography as in the world of music.

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

Since I was young, I raised in a very hard situations specially where I live In “Palestine”. My father bought me a camera and a violin when I was young and I started taking pictures for the people and friends and I learned violin at the high institute of music. There was moments I can’t forget specially when we had a war, I took pictures for children in the streets of Bethlehem and I played music for them, my best moments were Christmas events of Bethlehem where Jesus was born.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started your Musical and photographing career ?

One of the most interesting stories of my photographing was when I went to the Netherlands to take pictures for a Syrian couples who lives in Amsterdam, I had an idea to take their engagement pictures in front of the Amsterdam airport when the airplanes takeoffs and lands, I took one of the best pictures in my whole life: The couples were standing in the middle of the street and you can see the airplane is landing in the background!

One of the most interesting stories in my music career, We made a video clip for one of my songs on a frozen lake in Sweden, temperature was 7- degrees! I was with 4 other artists in the video clip, all of us were on a frozen lake and we were freezing! The video hit 3.3M views on YouTube.

What do you think makes your career stand out? Can you share a story?

My music career is special because I share what the people would like to hear! What they love! And I join artists around the World in every new clip! My last music video was with the famous Turkish Qanun player: Aytac Dogan.

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

I recommend them to be original, bring out a new idea every time and be creative!

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

Yes. I started taking pictures for people who are well known on social media, I messaged many of them! Most of them didn’t answer me! But some “very few” answered back and accepted to be photographed by me, such as: Zain Karazon, Arab Idol Mohammed Assaf and Yacoub Shaheen. After I took professional pictures for them, they tagged my page on Facebook and Instagram and I gained many followers! Thousands and now millions.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I used my success to bring goodness to the World in many ways:

Photography; for the couples, I save the best moments of their life! Every-time they look at their pictures in the future, they will remember the beautiful moments they lived together trough my pictures.

I always show love in my pictures! In these hard days we need love and peace… I always show love in my pictures specially in those places where there is wars and conflicts!

Music; I also sing about love between couples and encourage them about good things for their future instead of singing bad words music…

Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?

My favorite life lesson quote is “Never Give up”! I was born in a war zone and in an area of conflicts, there were no sources of encouragement, no press, no TV’s… Who knew that someday I will have more than 1 million followers on my social media and to travel the World instead of staying in my small city “Bethlehem”… I kept trying, persevering and developing my self until I reached there.

How can our readers follow you on social media?

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
