What do today’s most influential entrepreneurs and leaders have in common? They’re thought leaders, visionaries, and pioneers, and most importantly, other people want to listen to them. Why? Because they’ve overcome barriers, persevered through the tough times, and are more inspiring than most others.

Throughout the years I’ve been in business, I’ve had the opportunity to work with some of today’s most inspiring entrepreneurs and noticed that the most influential ones hold most or all of the following traits:

1). Independent thinkers – Influential entrepreneurs can think for themselves. They know their weaknesses and strengths. They’re self-aware and know how to deal with conflict and criticism without letting their emotions get in the way. They ultimately acknowledge their flaws.

2). Proactive Doers – Influential entrepreneurs are proactive, meaning they try to anticipate problems before they emerge, and plan accordingly. They don’t sit back and wait for problems to emerge and then respond.

3). Accountable – Influential entrepreneurs are accountable for their actions. They don’t place blame on others for their mistakes and they give credit where it’s due.

4). Charismatic – Influential entrepreneurs have personalities and charm that people love. They are also committed to their cause, which inspires others.

5). Likable – Influential entrepreneurs are well-liked by others. They’re warm and understanding. They also relate well to others. They’ll never act condescending or better than others.

6). Confident – Although obvious, influential entrepreneurs are confident in their decisions and convictions. They don’t second guess the decisions they make. They know who they are and what they want.

7). Enjoy solitude – Influential entrepreneurs aren’t afraid to spend time by themselves. They enjoy solitude and the opportunity to explore their introverted side.

8). Listeners – Influential entrepreneurs listen to their customers and employees. They ask questions about them and pay attention to what they say. They understand that it’s not about them.

9). Inspiring – Influential entrepreneurs inspire others to achieve their goals, push beyond challenges, and not care what others think.

10). Strong relationship builders – Michelle Lewis, branding expert, and owner of VisibilityVixen.com believes that influential entrepreneurs know how to build strong relationships with those around them. They are genuine when they connect with someone and are honest.

What are some of the traits you find most influential in your favorite entrepreneurs and leaders?
