Sue Tredget

Author and Speaker

Sue Tredget moved to Perth, Western Australia from the UK in 1999. After many years working full-time in education she experienced a series personal losses which triggered a period of intense depression and anxiety in 2013, a breakdown which she now sees as her breakthrough.

As part of her recovery, Sue took a year off from her job as a French and Spanish teacher to reflect, reconnect with friends and family, travel, and replenish her spirit. It was during this year that Sue began to explore her creativity through writing, to find her voice, and discover the healing power of words.

Five years on, Sue continues to work in education on a more flexible basis, which enables her to live a more balanced, mindful and creative life and do the things that make her heart sing.

She is now the proud author of Changing Lightbulbs: A Journey Through Anxiety and Depression, and the companion book Transformation: A Collection of Poems to Heal and Replenish the Spirit, both published in 2017 and available on Amazon and all online platforms, and through her website.

She is also a children's author. Inspired by the spring flowers while walking along the Camino de Santiago in Spain in 2014, Sue began composing rhymes in her head and dreamed of writing books for children. This dream became a reality, with the publication of her picture book series, My Colour Collection, in 2017.

To share her writing with the world, Sue created Causeway Publishing, inspired by the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland where she grew up, famous for its amazing hexagonal stones and columns.  She draws much of her inspiration for her writing from the beauty of the natural world, her daily observations of the little things in life, and her travels.

As well as being an author, Sue is an engaging and accomplished public speaker on mental health and well-being. In 2015 she became a volunteer Ambassador and Speaker for the Australian not-for-profit organisation BeyondBlue, which helps to raise awareness about mental health and break down stigma.

Having received such positive feedback from her volunteer speaking role, Sue is planning to expand her speaking engagements under her own brand in 2019. She can be contacted on [email protected] to make a booking.

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
