Sophie Brigstocke

Doula, Breastfeeding Supporter, Passionate advocate for mothers and families

After a short career casting, developing and script-editing independent British films I moved into working with mothers and babies - first as a baby massage teacher and pregnancy massage therapist, then as a birth and postnatal doula, and finally into breastfeeding support, volunteering on the postnatal ward of a large London hospital and on the National Breastfeeding Helpline. Since 2012 I have been facilitating doula training courses for Nurturing Birth, the company I now co-run, across the UK, Europe and the Middle East. I am a mentor for doulas and passionate about supporting women and families to have the best experience of birth and the early postnatal period possible. I am mother to two teens, keen yogi and singer.

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
