Nandini Patel is currently a junior at the University of Illinois at Chicago majoring in Biological Sciences. She is passionate about promoting health equity, social reform, and promoting mental health awareness in hopes of one day tackling these issues as a physician. Her clinical research at Cook County ED allowed her to follow through with these interests. To promote open discussion on stereotypes in the South-Asian community and use her writing as a stress outlet to also help others, she co-created a blog called NaNi Vaato.
“People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.”
