Laurie Nadel has had a dual career in psychology and journalism. Before earning her PhD in 1991, she spent more than 20 years in journalism. She has reported for Newsweek and UPI, written TV news for CBS, ABC News, and Reuters Television, and was a columnist for The New York Times. Now a specialist in acute stress, she is a member of a critical incident stress management team working with first responders. After losing her home to Hurricane Sandy, Dr. Nadel ran long-term support groups for survivors. She also helped create the Committee to Protect Journalists, an organization which since 1981 has fought for the rights of journalists around the world. Her sixth book, Sixth Sense: Unlocking Your Ultimate Mind Power has been a four-time bestseller and was featured twice on Oprah. Her latest book is THE FIVE GIFTS: Discovering Hope, Healing, and Strength When Disaster Strikes (HCI Books).
