Julie Westervelt

Founder of Sleep Crown Over-the-Head Pillows

Julie Westervelt is a Mom, a Yoga Teacher and the Founder of Sleep Crown from Austin, Texas. She teaches people things they’ve known how to do since birth: how to breathe and how to sleep.

She’s on a mission to help people get proper sleep - a Sleep Activist of sorts. Julie has a special sleep solution that was sparked at the intersection of her personal habit and her Restorative Yoga teachings.

After seeing tired and overstimulated students in her classes for years, the importance of rest and relaxation became obvious. Sleep Crown was developed after witnessing students easily drift off when their bodies were gently weighted with yoga blankets and other propping, resting in a dark, quiet environment that a Yoga Studio provides. These techniques have proven to be very powerful in signaling the systems of the body to relax. So Julie rolled all of this together into a pillow she calls Sleep Crown. Sleep is when the body repairs and restores itself. Sleep is equally, if not more important to our health and wellbeing as nutrition and exercise.

“Our bodies know how to optimize themselves if we can simply get the rest we require. When we sleep well, we feel better. Period. I want to make a difference in as many lives as possible so I developed a pillow that is helping people sleep better.” -Julie Westervelt

Julie enjoys traveling the country and connecting with people about sleep and wellness. You may catch her exhibiting at a Wellness Expo, at a Yoga class, walking with her daughter in Austin or on an e-bike ride with her Love in Southern California. She sleeps quite well.

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
