Jim Brett joined J.Crew as Chief Executive Officer in July 2017, where he oversees all aspects of J.Crew’s growing portfolio of sub-brands to business and brand partnerships. With an emphasis on quality, inclusivity and sustainability, Brett and his team are evolving the iconic American brand to reflect the American of Today. Under his leadership, J.Crew is embarking on a successful brand turnaround marked by two major profiles in the Wall Street Journal – first a brand re-launch interview, highlighting the shift toward accessibility along with a sales slump comeback after 15 consecutive quarters of low earnings.
Prior to J.Crew, Brett served as the president of West Elm, Williams-Sonoma, Inc.’s fastest growing brand, from 2010 to 2017. Additionally, Brett serves on the advisory board of Nest, an organization that promotes business development for artisans and home workers operating in the informal economy outside of factory environments, and is involved in the Human Rights Campaign, an advocacy group promoting civil rights for LGBTQ persons.
