I am a progressive licensed mental health counselor and trainer in the field of co-dependency and developmental trauma. In my 23 years of practice, I have conducted or facilitated over 200 workshops on Family of Origin Trauma and Couples Work.
I've studied extensively with Pia Mellody, distinguished author of Facing Codependence, from 2002 to 2018, first learning her methodology and then applying it to my private practice. In tandem, I studied extensively with Terrence Real from 2002 to 2007, best-selling author of I Don’t Want to Talk About It and The New Rules of Marriage. In 2016, I completed the three-year Somatic Experiencing Practitioner training program developed by Peter Levine, well known author of Waking the Tiger.
I created Healing Trauma Network in 2008, a directory of over 100 therapists who offer the work by Pia Mellody in their practices. Paid listings include their private practice and group workshop offerings to the public.
In addition, in 2015, with Dr. Rick Butts, I created the Healing Our Core Issues Institute dedicated to teaching therapists a methodology for treating childhood trauma. We offer six to eight workshops a year with over 20 therapists attending each workshop. Therapists learn a developmental trauma model which is an integration model using as a foundation, Pia Mellody’s Post Induction Therapy along with other attachment, mindfulness, and body-based methodologies. We have implemented a Certificate program for therapists to become a Developmental and Relational Trauma Therapist (DARTT) using curriculum and experiential practicum.
