Heather McCollum is a principal HR leader and author of "Work Like a Pro: Your Guide to Finding, Accepting & Starting a New Job" (available on Kindle).
The work of her company, Better HR (mybetterhr.com), is to deliver comprehensive resources for emerging business leaders and HR delegates in small organizations to manage people most effectively. The company also offers educational tools for employees to empower themselves as the valuable and unmatched contributors they are. Her advice stems from her experiences as a Human Resources professional, but also as an employee who has witnessed the impact of poorly executed people management practices. The Better HR philosophy is based on her belief that we can all work better.
Heather was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI but has since lived in several cities across the US and even spent a year studying abroad at University of Sussex in Brighton, UK. She received her Bachelor’s degree in English from Spelman College and her Master’s degree in Industrial & Labor Relations from Cornell University. Heather currently resides in Atlanta, GA and enjoys international travel, boating, cooking, watching independent films and talking about work stuff.

“People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.”
