Frances Metzman is a former social worker, now full-time author living in Philadelphia, PA, who earned her MA in Social Gerontology from the University of Pennsylvania. She is the author of the short story collection The Hungry Heart Stories (2012, Wilderness House Press) and was nominated for a Dzanc Books Best of the Web award in 2009. She is also coauthor of the novel Ugly Cookies (2000, Pella Press) and author of her newest book, The Cha-Cha Babes of Pelican Way. In addition to appearing on panels at various writing con-ferences such as Philadelphia Stories
and Marymount Manhattan College Conference, Metzman has given workshops at, among others, Temple University, Bryn Mawr College, and Penn State, in addition to teaching publishing/writing skills to graduate students at Rosemont College. She currently teaches creative writing/memoir workshops at Temple University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI).
